    Winning can be expensive:

Award: Actor, motion picture, musical or comedy
Presenter John Travolta had a big kiss for Joaquin Phoenix when the star of Walk the Line arrived on stage to accept his award. Who would have ever have thought that I would win in the comedy/musical category?" said Phoenix. "Not expected.

But the victory did have one drawback:
Phoenix lost a $220 bet to Ryan Phillippe, husband of his co-star Reese Witherspoon. "He bet me that Id win, and I said no way. I bet him whatever I had in my pocket, Phoenix said backstage. Apparently Phillippe wasted no time collecting.
I paid him right away, Phoenix said. He came after me. I didnt even get off the stage. --

    and from ew.com
    Globes Moments 2006

    Least Happy Winner
    Joaquin Phoenix
When he heard his Ladder 49 costar John Travolta announce he'd won the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy prize for playing Johnny Cash in Walk the Line, Phoenix did not seem elated. In fact, he appeared vexed, terribly vexed. ''Whoever thought I'd win in the comedy or musical category?'' he asked. Tablemate Ryan Phillippe apparently did revealing a previous bet when he yelled to the stage, ''Pay up!'' Phillippe also nearly upstaged his wife, Reese Witherspoon, who won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy award for playing June Carter Cash in the same film. ''My husband just hit me so hard I almost fell over,'' she said at the podium. ''Like a linebacker.''

I thought it went rather well, far more chuckles than I normally have during acceptance speeches.

Geena Davis with her fake little girl story was funny.

That guy who said his speech was written by his wife was good to.

I was entertained but the best part for me is the before and after shows. At least everyone was covered this year, although Charlize Theron what were you thinking? LOL

yay! I am very happy with all the winners- everyone who deserved to win did. I wish there was room for more dramatic actors because both of the Brokeback boys deserved to be recognized for their performances.

Steve Carell and The Office are hilarious. Moving it to Thursday is a bad idea. Good for TiVo, since I think I'll need another box, or try to figure out how to record two shows at once.

Moving the Office is going to kill us around here. Oy.

The show was good, I didn't watch all of it, because I was way too into 24.

I caught George Clooney's speech later during the news and I fell in love/lust with him ALL OVER AGAIN. He's so naturally funny and gorgeous. Definitely our Cary Grant.

I thought everyone looked great...except Johnny Depp. I wish he'd just show up somewhere looking as hot as he can look. I'd really appreciate it, Johnny!! I'm about ready to go out and buy the 21 Jump Street DVD sets so I can see him looking HOT again.

TIVO can't record two shows at once?

I have DVR, you can record two shows at once but you have to watch one or the other, you can watch a third while two are recording. As if I'm anymore a TV whore.

I don't think TiVo makes a dual reciever, but I could be wrong about that.

I can't watch a third show while 2 are recording, I wish I could! I needed it last night.

Thanks for the name, I can never remember his. I've been debating on whether or not to give The Office a try, now I think I will.

    Re: Golden Globes 2006

If I was a straight man or a lesbian, I'd totally be in love with Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon.

I was happy with the 'Brokeback' wins. Ang Lee is a cool guy. I was also pleased with Phillip Seymour Hoffman's win. I saw 'Capote' the other night. He was fantastic.

Now I read this in a Boston paper but haven't seen it myself... Apparently, when Heath didn't win, he mouthed the words 'WTF' in disgust. I taped it and will look for it, but I don't remember seeing that...

Anyone catch Harrison Ford caught onstage with his drink? The man's in love with Absolut, however, he should have lost his drink before walking to the microphone. It made him look like he was tipsy with his slurred speech and glassy eyes....

Also, the Most Annoying Award goes to Ryan Phillipe. His focus stealing shenanigans were wearing thin on me. Reese looked stunning throughout, though.

    Felicity Huffman's speech was touching.

And I didn't know Hopkins' first name was pronounced 'Antony'. That's news to me, Gwyneth...

I guessed 13 of the winners correctly. Ralphie guessed 12 and truly guessed them all... he doesn't watch much TV nor has he seen many of the movies.

And Drew's Barrymores were showing through her dress. Oy vey!

Yeah, Gwyneth's "accent" is so Madonna-ish, it cracks me up.

Ryan Philippe is going to be going the way of Chad Lowe if he isn't careful....Reese holds the pursestrings, buddy, be a little more mellow and appreciative of that chicklet!!

Like we haven't all seen those already

I'm actually kinda dissapointed that I missed the show. I'm used to my major awards shows being on Sunday nights, and I had to work last night.
