Re: Skating with Celebrities
I haven't watched it yet. Is Jillian "the skater" or is her partner? I know she used to skate, but I was wondering if maybe her partner was more of a skater than she is/was. Or, whatever, you know.
Re: Skating with Celebrities
Jillian is the celebrity, her partner is a champion skater.
She told Dorothy Hamill that she was her hero when she was skating as a little girl and a teenager. And that she had her haircut. (I had one of those haircuts too!)
Re: Skating with Celebrities
I don't know if I like this show too much. It just seems like a Fox ripoff of Dancing with the Stars.

So I don't think that is exactly fair then. She has experience at competitive skating.
I also had the Dorothy Hamill haircut!
Re: Skating with Celebrities
MSNBC has a really hilarious writup of last night's episode. My husband is the one who turned it on and some of it was pretty funny to watch- IE- Todd Bridges "Oh god oh god don't fall" skating passed off as "hip hop" dancing.
As soon as Jillian started talking about practice before her turn, I knew she had skated before. It was funny because the other pairs kind of looked like a jr pairs semi final while Jillian and her partner actually looked like skaters!
Its obvious that they are trying to hype Dave Coulier and Nancy Kerrigan as the ringers, but Jillian and her partner are so far above the rest that its not even really a contest.
Re: Skating with Celebrities
OMG, my first thought was... Who gave Jillian a microphone?? They really impressed me, though.
The show was OK. I enjoyed the backstories and the skating but the judges annoy me. The Sir guy seemed way too harsh... some of these people have only been skating 4 weeks and are skating with partners... it ain't that easy. I disagreed with some of the scoring.
I had the chance to go to a taping of this and blew it off... I wish now that I had! It looks like fun! :D
Re: Skating with Celebrities
never heard of this show, when is it on??

(:ot: this picture of Orlando Bloom is making me crazy, just FYI.)
Re: Skating with Celebrities
John Zimmerman is the pairs skater with Jillian. His professional partner is Kyoko Ina. And as a little tidbit for those skating geeks out there, he is married to Italian skating star Silvia Fontana. There should be a law against couples that good looking. :D
Re: Skating with Celebrities
The only reason to watch this show is to watch C-list celebs fall on their faces ... and there is nothing wrong with that. ;)

I don't think it's fair since Jillian even admitted that she figure skated as a girl.
Although he was pretty awkward, I really enjoyed Bruce Jenner's performance. I think he shows some potential.
Re: Skating with Celebrities
Well, I think its going to be hard for the teams with male celebrities- its hard for a female to carry the routine and help the guy look good- its much easier for a guy to make a girl look good, IMO.
