Toy Story 3- CANCELLED!

According to comingsoon.net, Toy Story 3, which Disney was supposed to be doing on their own will not be done with or without Pixar. Probably for the best, I don't think Disney could have made a sequel on its own that truly captured the feeling and charm of the original Toy Story films, and I think Pixar's main concern is cranking out new, original stories rather than unneeded sequels like Disney.

Even though I do love Toy Story movies, I do think that a 3rd movie would kill it. Look at what happened to Home Alone - but they did completely change the family - but it was still bad and killed Home Alone Movies for some, not me though I love the first two.

I think everyone is really misreading what actually happened over the last couple days regarding the much maligned "Toy Story 3"

The big news is NOT that Toy Story 3 was "cancelled", it's that Disney/Pixar shut down "Circle 7" (also known as PIXARE'NT), the animation department specifically formed to make Pixar sequels for Disney. They have been working on a third installment of the Toy Story franchise for months, and yes, it has been scrapped.

BUT, there will probably, in all likelyhood, still be a "Toy Story 3" some day, just one made by Pixar itself:

Lasseter, the creator and director of the original "Toy Story" movies, has made no secret of his protective feelings for the successful franchise. In fact, he shared long ago with close associates a different story line that he envisioned as the final chapter in a trilogy.

"Toy Story 3" would be a giant cash machine for Disney/Pixar, so there is no reason it won't be made. At least we can all breath easier now knowing that it will be good!

From the looks of it, this should have been expected and it is part of the Pixar deal... Sequels are going to be made by the filmmakers who originated the story... So if Toy Story 3 is made it will be made by Pixar, with a story generated by Pixar...

If Circle 7 continues it will be with orignial stories...

Now if this is the policy, I wonder if it will follow through to Home Video???

If this is the case, then we have a MAJOR coup

This is great news. I would rather not see this film made, the first two were great, why ruin a good thing? Hopefully most sequels will be squashed.

Thats great, I cant stand the Disney has made sequals, If Uncle Walt were alive today... He was quoted of saying that sequals were a wast of time and imagination and would never do one.

From what I heard on KLOVE news, was that the reason they scrapped the movie was because of the Disney/Pixar merger. While Disney does own pixar, the contract still allows Pixar to make story changes/decisions. Pixar apparently didn't like the new storyline for toystory 3, and so it was scraped. I don't think that means its gone forever, they just need to rewrite a new story. Personally, im glad pixar made that decision. Apparently, then new movie was about Buzz being recalled to china because of a defect or somthing......It sounded really lame.

If there was a big enough demand, he did sometimes give in.

walt did a few live action sequels but none of his annimated movies had sequels. He didn't believe in doing them because he would have had to top the original and he knew that would have been nearly immpossible. besides the already mentioned sequels He did a sequel to the shaggy dog, i believe it was called the shaggy da.
