Reese Witherspoon -hands down. Tough role for her in Walk the Line, in which she had to sing most of film. Which I thought was amazing that she could sing so well.

It doesn't get any more difficult than this. Felicity skillfully played a man becoming a woman in this gender bending tale. Academy voters love a challenging role, I'd think that this one fits the bill.

I chose Reese, but I think it will be a tough one because of how much the critics are talking about Felicity. I have not seen Transamerica so I can't really say whether I personally feel her perfromance was Oscar worthy.

This one is such a toss up I can't even pick just one. Love Reese, and Oscar voters love actors who portray real people (especially when it involves singing). Then again, I also love Felicity and while I haven't seen the film voters have a tendency to go for this sort of challenge (especially when it involves heavy physical transformation). I think this will be the most hotly contested race of the night possibly.
Of course there is always the outside chance that the two favorites would cancel each other out and leave room for a surprise upset, but I have no idea who that would be.
Reese Witherspoon...her husband BUGS and her twang has doubled this year.
So my answer would have to be Miss Felicity.
Okay...the only movies I saw were North Country (very very good) and Pride & Prejudice (good, not great), and the acting was really....good. I'm dying to see Transamerica though. Walk the Line I will have to see before the Oscars....although I'm not actually looking forward to it....nails on a chalkboard to me. I'm so grumpy and old now.
Loved Reese. Been planning to see "Mrs. Henderson Presents" and "Transamerica", so looking forward to seeing those performances. Don't think I can deal with watching "North Country" and had no interest in "Pride and Prejudice" once I heard things about this version.
I say Reese, but is she doesn't win, it will most likely be Felicity Huffman.
