i think it may be safe to say that he would be the cop everyone would have loved to meet and the annoying neighbor next door that everyone would of loved to have.

Don Knotts Has Passed Away!! (merged x 2)

Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81

Don knotts also stared in a few Disney films such as "The Apple Dumpling Gang," (1974); "Gus," (1976); and "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo," (1977).

He was the funniest in those 60's films. What's the one where he's the astronaut? Very sad.

Aww, that's so sad to hear.

    Re: RIP Barney Fife

This is so sad, I loved him!
I loved the movie "The incredible Mr. Limpet"
I watched it numerous times with my mom. I still watch Andy Griffith reruns on TV land.

My prayers to his family, friends and fans.

That's so sad. I remember him best from Three's Company where he played the extremely funny Mr. Furley. I loved when he guest starred on Eight Simple Rules with the late John Ritter. He was truly a funny man.

Adding to his list of Disney films, don't forget that he was also Turkey Lurkey in Chicken Little.
