Even though "Hurt" is a 9 inch nails original, I think Cash's version is much more emotional.

Ring of Fire, Going to Jackson (with his wife), Hurt, Man in Black, Orange Blossom Special, I walk the Line... those come to mind first.

Uhm.... Is all of them a valid choice?

Just about everything on his last album ("The Man Comes Around") qualifies as among my faves.

    I'll give you a hint...

I shot a man in Reno
    Just to watch him die...

Loves me some Cash. I actually didn't think much of him when I was younger, but then when I was older made a strong connection that has only gotten stronger the more and more I listen to him.

And the best of Cash that he never sung, The Electric Amish's "Amish Country Blues":

When I was just a baby, my momma told me, "son,
don't ever use der engine to make your buggy run.
But I drove a car in Goshen just to watch it go!
And if der parson didn't catch me, I'd be in Kokomo!"

The Ballad of Ira Hayes and Folsom Prison Blues and Don't take you Guns Town. Ring of Fire will always come up first but there are so many others.

I've been a casual Cash fan for years, but have really taken an interest since seeing Walk the Line. What comprehensive albums to some of you more seasoned Man in Black fans recommend?

I say getting the box sets, such as the more recent "Love, God, Murder" box, would be a great start.

    Now There was A Song,
    Ragged Old Flag,

My favorites are his songs that tell a story mostly of the Old West. Those are the ones that got me the most interested.

The Box Set is easier though even if it doesn't have every song.
