I'm glad he's back with Disney. I'm sure they'll release a DVD or with Walt DIsney Treasures, probably rarties. But I don't think he'll be on merchandise or a walk-around character in the parks. He'll probably have the same presense as the "Alice Comedies" I bet.

Why does everyone want Oswald to be in the parks and merchandising??

the problem with oswald is only die hard disney fanatics like us know who he is. the average tourist wouldn't recognise him. when I told my daugther about him she had no idea who oswald was.. now my son was different but he is a fanatic like his mom.

Believe it or not, Oswald is big in Japan.

So it's very possible he'd make his biggest impact in that market (parks/stores etc ...).

We may likely get just a DVD here ...

I bet we will first see him on Disney Channel making the Disney Channel "Mouse Ears" thing before each show starts. That would be the quickest way to get him back on television.

I think Oswald would be a great icon for California Adventure...just as soon as the mow the whole place down and start over.

I really hope they start merchandising and putting him in the parks, maybe even in toontown! he could have a black and white house, and everything, including him and the CM's uniform would be colorless!! I'd love that so much! and I think that once they start releasing things about him, putting him on disney channel, etc, people will know who he is. if they have Kingdom Hearts characters at Disney World, they can have Oswald the Lucky Rabbit at all the parks.

And anyone know a site where i can get some of this japanese merchandise?

Actually, that would be kind of cool. He's the 'lost child' of the Disney family after all.

I'm just hoping there is a Treasures set of some kind of release forthcoming...

I see a Oswald movie soon to be released. I think Disney could market him in way to add him to the parks through a movie.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but none of this is going to happen. Acquiring Oswald was more symbolic than anythign else. They'll market him in Japan where he seems to be a bit of a fad, and in the US they'll maybe put out a dvd and if we're really lucky some select merchandise for the hard-core disney fans, but that's about it. I don't think he's going to pop up in the parks anytime soon.

Re: Where in the land is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit?

It seems that when a dvd for Oswald is released, that would be a
good time to see him in Disneyland in Anheim. In fact DL could do
a mini promo welcoming Oswald back to Disney. Of course a parade
or some sort of attraction would be neat. I like the idea someone
mentioned of a black and white house/area for Oswald. And someone
mentioned adding one of Oswalds cartoons in the theater on Main
Street. The next possible thing to do is to introduce Oswald in
a toon Disney Series ~ and produce some new Oswald cartoons!

This is a thread for Oswald fans. If you want to think "none of this is going to happen" and the Oswald is only "a fad in Japan", you don't have
    to post on this thread.

Re: Where in the land is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit?

I think everyone is missing the mark here, He needs a bigger push than a dvd of old Toons, Oswald is Walts lost son. He was taken away due to contract issues and was never really given a part of the lime light. It would be great if the Walt Disney Studio could some come up with idea of Oswald looking for his big break. Mabye a live-attaction picture like Roger Rabbit. He never got his due, I mean even Mickey could help him. This could be a great picture here even if it goes DVD right away. This push with Oswald what put him on the mark. Just an idea.
