Hallyuwood in Korea

A Hollywood-styled entertainment complex is currently under construction in Gyeonggi Province’s Goyang City, just 30 km from Seoul. Dubbed ‘Hallyuwood’, which is a play on American version ‘Hollywood’, the complex will boast facilities dedicated to Hallyu, a Korean word used to describe the Korean Wave, or popularity of Korean pop culture, which has swept Asia.

When completed the US$2 billion, the complex will feature facilities and amusement parks dedicated to the Korean Wave, and is expected to attract six million tourists annually.

The complex will turn Goyang City as well as Gyeonggi Province into a centre of Korea’s pop culture, while placing the region as one of Korea’s must-visit places.

Construction of the complex is expected to complete by 2010.
