ticket info and more at http://www.manntheatres.com/promo/clashoftitans.phpAlthough Ray Harryhausen made only about a dozen features during his four decade career, those films, including JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, and of course CLASH OF THE TITANS, are among the most popular and influential fantasy films of all time. Almost 30 years before Oscar® winning HMS alumni Stan Winston and Dennis Muren used computers to bring dinosaurs to life; Ray Harryhausen did it using the same painstaking stop motion technology that visual effects pioneer Willis O’Brien used for the original KING KONG in 1933. In fact, seeing KING KONG at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre as a 13 year old boy inspired Harryhausen to pursue a career that would enable him to create a squad of sword fighting skeletons, a flying horse, a giant Cyclops and other memorable fantasy images.
Some of today’s most successful filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and James Cameron are Ray Harryhausen’s fans and credit him with inspiring their own careers. We are proud to honor this iconic filmmaker and pay tribute to an artist who continues to serve as mentor and inspiration for generations of filmmakers and film fans.
