Re: Director Richard Fleischer Has Died

His father was Walt Disney's biggest competitor, Max Fleischer (Gulliver's Travels and the great Superman Caroons of the 1940's) and when approached by Walt to direct 20,000 leagues, he asked him if he knew who he was and Walt said of course, he only wanted the best. Thanks to this one deal, Max Fleischer and Walt became good friends and had many wonderful dinners together with thier wives. Small World isn't it?

Yes. The Fleischer SUperman cartoons were the best ever made. The Batman Animated show from a few years back was inspired by those cartoons. There hasn't been animation (TV) since then that has been worthy of the "Fleischer" style. Was beautiful stuff.

Nice story LostBoy. Thanks for adding that info.

Wow, so many great films from a creative director. Thanks Lost Boy for the extra info. I had a feeling there was some tie in from somewhere.
