I would look awfully silly just sitting there, sleeping watching a TV with with a blank screen.

At least with the TV on it looks like I'm doing somthing, and you can't tell if I'm awake or asleep (unless you look real, real close).

Re: Could You Turn Off Your TV For a Week? TV-Turnoff Week 4/24- 4/30

Much of what I watch on TV is sports-related...so between my favorite ESPN shows and at least a couple of games a week...that makes it difficult.

For me, the computer becomes almost as much of an "addiction" as watching tv does...although it is more interactive, at least, and there is the matter of information-on-demand, e-mail...and for many, even e-commerce to where it becomes both a work and pleasure tool...

What I would say here is simply..."everything in moderation"...

One thing that I need to keep in mind, something I think is a growing problem for a lot of us - kids especially - back away from the video box more, and get more physically active - for a whole variety of reasons.

    Everything in moderation.

Eh, the bix box in my living room is just for watching DVD's anyways. I RARELY watch televised programming. I could easily go a year without it unless there was a disaster of some sort. But, that's what the internet is for, right?

The longest I've gone without being on-line is 2 weeks. I don't think I could go that long now with my various internet responsibilities.

    Same here.

TV is just like any other form of entertainment - internet, computer games, poker, shopping, Disneyland etc. - everything in moderation and don't let yourself get hooked on it.

Re: Could You Turn Off Your TV For a Week? TV-Turnoff Week 4/24- 4/30

I realized the other day - after watching the entire first eason of Arrested Development on one week - that a) I love watching TV on my own time AND without commercials and b) I don't get sucked into shows which I find to be really dull (which, for me, is a lot of what is on TV). I feel I've vound the best of both worlds!

I could do it only if I could set the DVR to record the few shows I do watch so I don't miss anything (like 24... miss one episode and it takes 2 weeks to catch up).

Oh yeah, I could do it. I watch very little TV as it is and half the time I have to be told when the program I want to see is on.

I suppose it doesn't count if you T-Vo your shows and watch DOUBLE the amount the following week.

    No?

    Then I'm out.
