    Well, here is the thing that I know John Lasseter had to say about Pixar's Cars... He said that Pixar's films are all "hand crafted" even though they use computers for the basic rendorings... Lasseter said that it had to do alot with the high quality of the film being produced, and also why it takes three years to develope a film...

    In other words the process isn't "faster," which is what Eisner wanted...

    One distinction needs to be made here. "2-D animation" no longer equals "hand-drawn" in the traditional sense. It is now computer-aided. The traditional and expensive process which went into making Snow White, for example, involved many stages which can now be rendered less expensive with the aid of computers. The fact that John might champion the "traditional" 2-D animation that made Disney famous doesn't mean that he's going to take the studio back to processes and technology from 1937.
