Disney losing appetite for fast food

Marketing ties with McDonald's hit lean times

For 10 years Disney and McDonald's appeared to have a beautiful billion-dollar marriage. Happy Meals bore little figurines of Nemo, Mr. Incredible, and Peter Pan.

But no more. This is one relationship that's ending because of the children.

Disney is not renewing its billon-dollar, cross-promotional pact with the fast-food giant, which ends with this summer's release of Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The reason, in part, say multiple high-ranking sources, is the family-friendly entertainment giant wants to distance itself from fast food -- and its links to the epidemic of childhood obesity.

Sounds plausible. I agree with Disney. For a family orientated company, this is vital.

Now shoooo them and their freakin' fry carts outta the Parks!!!!!!
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

(Besides, Burger King always had better kid's meal toys, than McDonalds
for Disney Animated movies! Plus, McDonald's didn't do squat for
Home on the Range, Emperor's New Groove, or the 1st Pirates movie )

Finally! Now that Fry cart will have no choice but to leave. They charged way to much for a soda. I don't like McDonald's fries, of course i live near so so I'm sick of McDonalds

I'm not so sure. See this part of the article:
But Disney isn't divorcing itself from McDonald's, either. The fast-food giant will continue to be a staple in the theme parks.

This is simply an end to the deal to sell Disney toys with Happy Meals. McDonalds locations will remain in the parks and McDonalds sponsorships of attractions will continue.

I think it is an interesting gesture to say it was because of child obesity...

But the LA Times got it wrong and didn't do their homework...

McDonalds ended the "exclusive" agreement several months ago, citing wanting to open up bidding for promotional placement.

    Child Obesity is spin...

And if they really meant they were distancing themselves because of Child Obesity (which is a national problem that really does need to be addressed) then the fry cart in Frontierland and the Space Burgers in DCA would be gone as well. Selling toys has nothing to do with obese children, the food is what is making them fat. Bunch of Hypocrites is what they are. I thought Iger was better than this. This is something Eisner would have done.
