I don't really want to get more off the topic of "are you going to see this movie on Friday" ... but ...

This is part of the reason I haven't been involved in a church in about 5 years. To be honest ... there are ALOT more important things churches should be worrying about than a movie.

Brett Ratner is definitely no Bryan Singer, but here's hoping all the elements are in place from the first two films to force this film into a rightful place to close out this trilogy.

I don't want to be a stick in the mud, but I find it a tad inappropriate that your mom read this to you. You seem rather young to read this type of nonsense.

You seem like the perfect recruit for Opus Dei since you may be very impressionable. Just food for thought.

    Have a super day!

Uh huh. Well apparently Storm has much more screen time in it, and thats only a good thing. Storm rocks.

Feh, old enough to work is old enough. I think it's cool that a parent and offspring old enough to have a job still spend enough time together to read an entire book.

And please keep the personal jabs to a minimum, lest we fall further off-topic.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

If you take stock in what the critics are saying, you may want to pass on it this weekend.

The DaVinci Code got slammed at Cannes.

Re: So who is going to see 'Da Vinci Code' on Friday?

Well, I am going to see this film, mostly out of spite... Partly because I went to the same acting schools as Tom Hanks... But the reviews at Cannes are not flattering, infact critics HATE this film... so my expectations are not going to be very high...

Still I like the subject matter... and I loved Hudson Hawk which is an awful movie...

Hudson Hawk is one of my all time favorite movies!
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

They've been doing that about other religions for years, especially with my religion. Yet, I know it's Hollywood - meant to entertain, not "inform people of the truth".

However, I do understand how some folks might get upset, because I have met people who actually believe that because a movie presents Wicca and Paganism as being satanic, it must be true.

But, I'm not going to protest anything that Hollywood does - to me, there are a lot more important things in the world to expend energy on, and if people are willing enough to believe everything they see on a movie screen, then no one can change their mind anyway.

We've been counting down to seeing it this Friday night for some time now. Can't wait!

And should we allow the movie industry to tell lies about our religious figures and beliefs and let them get away with it?

No one is asking anyone to believe the story, but some people do believe it unfortunately and that's where the problem is.
Well, it is because Movies as a form of Theatre is a religious practice which predates Christianity by close to over 1000 years... And in two seperate cultures well over over 3000 miles appart. And it was also used by the holy Roman Empire in the 5th century litergical form to evangelize the Christian story to non latin speakers (it is where we got the "stations of the cross.") However it was frowned upon by Puritan Reformists, who thought it was ungodly and this attitude actually carries over into many Christian communites in the US.

Christianity has had a love hate relationship with Drama for several centuries now... The controversy is nothing new...

What raises my eye brow is the reaction... Apparently in the Christian world it is ok to draw Mohamid's image satirically, but it is not OK to tell a story about someone who drew the image of Christ to convey a subversive message. Some where there is an irony...

This film points out an inner political struggle within Christianity which is a lingering suspecion of some liberal theological circles for some time. And to be honest more liberal ideas about the Christian Story and thier efforts to bring ideas into the public view is often quashed by the evagelical community even when there is history to back up some of the claims.

Some I am sure many will attack the medium and not the message.

Christianity is bigger than the De Vinci Code.
