dear god don't go see "poseidon."

ever had a panic attack?
imagine having one for an hour and a half.

i almost threw up during the movie. not because it was gorey, or disgusting. just because of all the suspense, nonstop, that only got worse the longer the movie went on. my friend was as sick as i was after it. i was completely exhausted after it. lol it was pathetic.

the movie itself isnt bad. some of the effects were a little cheesy, but for the most part, it seemed well-made. good movie. it was just ..a completely miserable experience, trying to watch it.

so uh. don't go see it unless you're tougher than me, or are heavily medicated.

That movie was lame IMO. My husband and I had fun inserting random movie quotes during scenes. We kept imitating

It looks like Titanic meets Speed. Not for my $10, tyvm. I'll save my dough for LotR, Star Wars, etc- type films or the next Working Title production. For as much as they charge for movie tickets these days I'm not going to waste it on some formulaic summer action film.

I saw a test screening of this a couple months ago. Pretty much everything I wrote on the comment card, many people agree with. This supposed "epic" didn't really much character development... and other such comments. I knew it wouldn't be very big. HECK, MI3 is kicking Poseidon's butt right now... And for an "epic", 90-100 minutes isn't very long. The oppposite effect happened to "The Legend of Zorro". I heard that was a 2-2 1/2 hour FAMILY FLICK. Who's ever heard of a 120-180 minutes family film?!?

I was kinda surprised WB wanted to test screen POSEIDON. But then after watching it, I can understand why they were concerned.

You have to understand going in, what type of movie you're watching. It is a disaster movie, think "Towering Inferno", "Armageddon", "Earthquake" type of movie. It is what it is, it's not going to be remembered as an oscar-quality film, but one that is entertaining in it's own right. Having seen it, I can say it's entertaining in a cheesey way. The effects are cool, it's a basic popcorn summer movie.

Oh, yeah. I do see it as a cheesy-popcorn flick. But it could have been much better. That was pretty much the point I tried to make.

we had free passes.. it was that or MI3, and we don't really like tom cruise. at all.



ive seen a lot of disaster films but this one just slaughtered me. maybe where i have mild issues with anxiety anyway, lol i dunno. i spent most of the film with my legs on the seat in front of me (theater was empty) so that my knees were really close, the hood of my jacket over my head, chewing on my nails.
it wasnt a good "whats gonna happen next?!" kind of suspense. i knew what was going to happen. the stereotypical characters were gonna die. certain ones would live, because those types always do. and the same things kept happening over and over again. it was either fire, water, or something completely absurd coming out of nowhere.



and yeah, the movie was really short and fast. within 5 minutes, the boat was upside down.

GREAT MOVIE!! the effects were great, except for the fact that when the ship was upside down all the maps and fire exstinguishers were right side up.
