    Read the movie!!

There are a ton of movies that are either in production or are being released this year that are based on books.

Here are some of the books/authors and the IMDB link to the film so you can see who's starring!

Be Cool (March 2005) by Elmore Leonard

Because of Winn-Dixie (Feb 18) by Kate DiCamillo

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (July 15) by Roald Dahl

Chronicles of Narnia (Dec 9) by C.S. Lewis

Constantine (Feb 18) based on a comic by Jamie Delano

Fantastic Four (July 5) based on the comics by Stan Lee

Fever Pitch (April 8) by Nick Hornby

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (May 6) by Douglas Adams

In Her Shoes (Oct 7) by Jennifer Weiner

Sin City (April 1--no joke!!) by Frank Miller

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (June 3) by Ann Brashares

If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so and if you have any questions, definitely... feel free to ask!!

    (psssst! Narnia!)
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

When it comes to books being made into movies, I try my best to read the book before watchign the movie. If I do it the other way around, I feel like I am cheating. Even with reading Wicked after having listened to the soundtrack for the broadway show felt like I had already formed an opinion about the characters.

I took a great class at a community college. It was a Film Noir class. We read the book then watched the corresponding movie. The book that was closest to the movie was The Maltese Falcon. It seemed as thought the screenplay was being read straight from the book.

I've read all of those, with the exception of Constantine, Sin City, and Fantastic Four.

I'm very excited about Winn Dixie. It's one of my favorite children's books and I saw the trailer last weekend.....Dave Matthews!! WooHoo! Works for me. Courtney and I are uber-excited!! She's also freeeeeaaaaking out about Narnia. She's seen all the cartoons and the freaky live-action videos. Total obsession for her.

I am NOT excited about Fever Pitch. It was already made into a movie......starring Colin FIRTH! I don't need it remade!! Geez!

The Traveling Pants might make a cute movie to see with my daughter.

And my sister and I already made a pact several years ago that if In Her Shoes was made into a movie, that we'd see it together, ASAP. We're nothing like the sisters....but we both loved the book. And shoes.

I'm really excited for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Those books were so hilarious! I remember an old BBC version of it from long ago, too, I think.

I posted this in another thread, but I'm taking a class this semester that deals with how women are portrayed in fiction and how those works of fiction are adapted into movies.

Here's our reading list for the semester
    Emma by Jane Austen
    Orlando by Virginia Woolf
The Women of Brewster Place by Gloria Naylor
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

We will also be watching the film adaptations of all these works and discussing them. Our major writing assignment will be to choose 3 of the above works and write our own adaptations of them. Sounds like fun!!!

We watched the Gwenyth Paltrow version of Emma and will be watching Clueless, which was based on Emma.

Just giving my 2 cents. Cheers!
