    Re-release TRON in 3D?

In light of Disney re-releasing "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on Disney Digital 3D technology, would it be possible/ a good idea to re-release TRON and have the Cyber World reformatted for 3D? A 2007 (25th anniversary) or 2012 (30th anniversary) release? I think it would be cool, and possibly be a good time to release it compared to 1982. TRON was ahead of its time and I feel is underrated. There's only, what, 80-100 theaters in the U.S. that has the 3D tech now??

    Re: Re-release TRON in 3D?

It's possible for the 25th anniversary... let's hope they do it better than the last time they did the 2-D to 3-D conversion of the movie (which was only a few stills, but it still wasn't that great for the most part).

I've yet to actually see the 3-D conversion, so I'm wondering how good it could possibly be. I've hated pretty much all 3-D conversion I've seen so far.

What have you seen? I only know of Chicken Little, but I missed my chance for that.

    Re: Re-release TRON in 3D?

I bet this will come up at the screening:

June 7 at 7:30 p.m., Samuel Goldwyn Theater: “Tron” (1982). Disney Studios filmmakers embraced the use of the computer as a creative tool as it had never been used before, creating a surreal backdrop for this ground-breaking feature and forever changing the landscape for computer-generated imagery. A 70mm print will be screened. The evening also will include a discussion with Richard Taylor and Steve Lisberger, the film’s visual effects supervisor and director, respectively. Oscar nominee Bill Kroyer (“Technological Threat”), who is a member of the Science and Technology Council, will introduce the film and moderate the discussion.

What have I seen? 21 stereo photos. Actually, I was checking it out yesterday morning right before you posted this.

Most of the movie reels of the 80s were horrid. It's not like how it was in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and even parts of the 70s, where they would go onto the movie sets for stereo photos.

if they redo it for 3-D they can upgrade effects and add the effects they didn't have originally and change the story.. lol

I'd like to see it I also wouldn't mind if they redid the Black Hole in 3-d as well.
