Thumbs up Cars: Reviews are coming in and they are ... AWESOME

Currently Rotten Tomatoes has the movie at 89%

    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10004076-cars/

Just a couple links to reviews and some quotes:

    http://www.urbancinefile.com.au/home...1881&s=Reviews

Cars is a brilliantly executed movie with a well tuned screenplay built on the simple but evergreen character elements that gave old Hollywood its golden glow: decent human values. The good, the badly mangled and the ugly are all embraced as valuable members of the community, and winning hearts earns greater status than winning prizes.
    http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/.../rid/10025028/

What Cars teaches is how to blend brash comedy with technical astonishments so that each enhances the other. I can't imagine who wouldn't want to test-drive this one. Like the promos say, "It's got that new-movie smell."
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr..._id=1002613444

While the other guys are still hawking talking animals, the folks at Pixar continue to up the anthropomorphic ante with terrific characters and crowd-pleasing storytelling that are as much a part of the company's much-deserved success as all that state-of-the-art technology.
Of course to be fair there are a couple of iffy reviews, but by and large they seem to be quite good.

This is great, I knew it would be a winner with the critics. I have a feeling it will do well with the public too.

WHY have I still not seen a single commercial for this movie????

I'm worried that they're not sufficiently marketing this picture if they haven't reached my demographic (30 something woman with a 10 year old child).

It usually helps to have the TV turned on A-h...

But seriously, I've seen tons of marketing for the film. Maybe I'm watching programing that is within their marketing target or something though.

I was lucky enough to get free tickets for a sneak preview showing this past Saturday night. Let me say it lives up to the hype. I believe it ranks right up there with TS2 and all of the other Pixar films. Looks like it will be another merchandising mecca like Buzz was also. I took my 3 kids, 12, 8, and 4, and all of them loved it. I would highly recommend going to see it, especially on the big screen as there are some landscape scenes that will blow you away.

Use TiVo much? I'm missing bunches of commercials as well. I try to get back to the Cars one.
Has anyone posted the LA Times' Calendar article from Sunday (Monday?)? It had some of the finer details (not plot poinbts) that Mr Lasseter had put in.

Man, I have TiVo and I've still seen the commercials for this movie a dozen times, at least. (Of course I'm not watching everything on my TiVo. I do actually watch regular programming.) It looks like it's going to be a great movie. I definetly want to see it. I'm even thinking of buying the soundtrack. John Mayer covers "Route 66".

Haven't seen the commercials for the movie itself yet, but I've seen auto insurance tie-in State Farm spot about 20 times already!!!

I do use a fair amount of TiVo, and I only watch about 3 hours of TV a week anyway... but STILL! There used to be unavoidable marketing of Pixar movies. This one just seems... different.

Maybe I should stop reading and watch more TV,eh?

If you read the newspaper, there was a giant, two-movie fold-out for Cars and POTC II. I'm talking gigantic!

Can't get that in one of them-thar books.

I might be going to the studio screening on Saturday. That'll be fun.

Re: Cars: Reviews are coming in and they are ... AWESOME

I've seen many commercials for it, I think they are marketing it okay.

EDIT: something to think about...the featured crtic from rottentomatoes that gave cars a bad review gave the omen a good review, and the omen only got 32% from rottentomatoes. Maybe he doesn't like happy movies ?

When I first saw the trailer for cars I thought it was going to be a bomb. I'm not as excited as I was to see the Incredibles, but that will just give me more of an opportunity to be absolutely floored if the movie is really good!

Is it just me or are the reviews I am reading the most positive for an animated movie in a very long time?
