Yeah but when the majority of people when asked, "When you hear the name Tinker Bell, who do you think of? The non-talking pixie in Disney's Peter Pan or Julia Roberts in Hook?"

Even in Finding Neverland, Tinker Bell didn't talk. She was just a light. I personally never read the story of Peter Pan but I'm assuming she's not supposed to talk.

Well I don't think they can call someone from the Disney Channel that no one knows "one of Hollywood's hottest young talents." Usually to be considered a Hollywood star they mean on the silver screen, not the small screen.

I googled this and several web sites say the voice will be Brittany Murphy and that there's such a good buzz that they might release in theaters instead of strait to video. While I like her for the most part, I admit I still have a bad attitude about this!

    My bet is Dakota Fanning.

I don't agree, but I may reconsider if they reinstate the donation to the charity that JM Barie insisted on in the original stage play.

I think people just do not like change. You can say "why fix something that is not broke" but sometimes change is needed, and change can be good. I bet if you asked little girls if they would watch a movie where Tink talks, they would say yes. A movie starring Tink? Little girls (and some 39 year old girls) would be all over that.

The book is very good, but Tink does need a voice if it goes into a film production! Wolfette has been begging for this book for some time, she actually bought it for her self at DL yesterday. She spent $17.00 of her hard earned money on it. I read it and this is going to become another Disney hit, let's let it fly!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Re: Tinker Bell Speaks - 6/8/06

I reserve judgment. Tinkerbell is timeless, I think giving her a voice can go two ways. She will either bomb and not be able to convey what we percieve as who Tinkerbell would be OR it will be a great hit and will only feed our growing like of Tinkerbell as a character. I'm hoping for the 2nd option but we shall see.

Considering "one of Hollywood's hottest young talents" was a direct quote from a Disney press release, it really could be anyone. Press releases do tend to embellish. It's what they're supposed to do.

I may be wrong, but a "hottest young talent" in Hollywood usually implies someone younger than Brittany Murphy. She'll be 29 by the time the video is released (Gawd, I can't believe I just said that). Disney can certainly get one of their younger DC actresses to do the movie for a lot cheaper than Murphy would.

The talk of Tinker Bell going to theaters sounds like a lot of hype. Disney specifically said it would be released by Walt Disney Home Entertainment in the Fall of 2007. Also, the fact that Disney Consumer Products and Buena Vista Home Entertainment are handling the publicity tells me that there is no intention to show it in theaters.

Jim Hill Media may have jumped the gun on this one (again). We'll see.

Re: Tinker Bell Speaks - 6/8/06

Lets see.. Someone under a Disney contract so in the future if tink needs a voice outside of a movie the voice can be used... (Run away from parades and fireworks!) DC star makes a good bet... they are cheap.. and under contract forever it seems.. Unless they get to big and get a good lawyer.. then get a worse contract with evil movies...

Can we not use her voice outside of fairy land.. because really she cannot talk to humans.. as set in Peter Pan.. but can talk to other mythological creatures like fairies and other pixies...
