New Walt Disney Pictures Logo On Pirates 2

Saw a local radio station preview screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest last night, 5th July (film comes out 6th July here in Australia) and was impressed by the new Disney logo at the start of the film.

Many will fondly remember seeing the blue castle and the hearing the memorable sound that went with it, which then led on to the orange version that was with Narnia.

Now we have a fully CG fly through sequence starting with some fairytale scenes, flying backwards over a steam train, some water and finally past Sleeping Beauty Castle (MK style), followed the traditional pixie dust arc being spread across the top.
It reminds me of the theme parks and the year of a million dreams imagery, providing an even greater link from the movies to the theme parks than the old simple logo. They may as well add the disney parks or year of a million dreams website URL to the end of it!

    What are your thoughts?

I just started a thread asking about this...figures. But thanks for the news. Does it still say Walt Disney Pictures with it? How was the CG animation?

I couldn't see any faults with the animation, looked great to me.

Yes, the end is framed the same way as the old logo, with the castle and "Walt Disney Pictures" at the bottom.

For when you guys see it: Is it just me or is there a mickey head shape created by some of the fireworks above the castle?

I'm pretty dissapointed that they switched the castle to MK's. The DL castle has been the logo for sooooo long. But the stuff before hand (the train and such) sounds very cool. Is it in full color?

My guess that the castle switch is related to the year of a million dreams and making the marketting more uniform. It's in a very similar style.

Yes, it's all in full colour.

I believe this is their "official new 10 year logo" to replace the tired animated intro... the description sounds great.... Can't wait to see it in digital tomorrow

new logo looks very good, the castle isnt really magic kingdom style, its the same one (in shape) to the old logo, its just fleshed out a bit more.
it looks good, but its too long, and dosent suit the title sequence that well.

I will be extremely disappointed if it is Walt Disney World's castle. Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland has long been the logo, and it should stay that way - updated or not.

It was much, as someone put it to me, "pointier" than the Anaheim version. I'd say that it is most likely based off of the Magic Kingdom castle. I didn't really get a good look at it because I was confused as to what it was.

I don't understand why they would suddenly switch castles after all of these years. I would be okay with a CGI intro with the Disneyland castle, but the Magic Kingdom castle? It doesn't say Disney to me at all. I was actually mainly confused because it started off a lot like the Dreamworks logo (with the stars and the CGI). So if reminding me of your lesser animation rival was your plan Disney, congratulations.

At least they had the logo this time around...

The first movie neglected to even put the logo on the beginning of the movie. Even in their "more adult" brownish/goldish tint (which I kind of prefer better).

It's nice, i'll say that. I liked the castle, but as said, it looked too pointy to be the one from DL, and did look like the one from the MK. But it's pretty
