MONSTER HOUSE have you seen it?

Yesterday my daughter and I went to see this and I have to tell you this is one great movie. The story line is awesome and there is a good twist to it. The animation is done in the same stop motion as Polar Express. Polar Express kind of freaked me out but I enjoyed it in this movie. The writing is top notch with witty dialog and little throw away lines that make you laugh. Also the little looks that the characters give each other are funny.

I won't give any of the story away here. I highly recommend this movie. I understand it is also shown in 3D in certain venues which would make it even more fun.

Run don't walk to see Monster House. , 5 stars and

    So what do you think?

Is it a scary movie for kids around the age of 10-14 or funny?

It is very scary. They, whoever they are , say it is scary for 6 and under. I think that for kids 10 -14 now days, unless they have been very sheltered, will not have a problem. It is also very funny. Lots of humor mixed in with the scary stuff. There were many ages of kids in our theater and no one seemed to have a problem. Now, their dreams last night ... well, maybe that's another story

I want to see this film, but I don't know if I'll get the chance to until it hits DVD.

It certainly was! I saw the Real-D version of Monster House. As with Polar Express, the 3-D version was clean and crisp, beautifully executed.

I read somewhere that the film was designed from the get-go with the Real-D process in mind, that it was always planned from the 3-D viewpoint. And thinking back on specific scenes with the house, that would make sense.

Seeing the 3-D version also gives you the added bonus of seeing 3-D trailers for "Meet the Robinsons" and "Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D" as well.

Can't wait for Nightmare in 3-D! Just the few scenes in the trailer looked amazing!!

pveticket - yes, you will like it. The movie is aimed at the 11 to 17 age market mainly but adults will certainly enjoy it also.

Speedway - I agree. I wasn't too interested in seeing this when I saw the trailers. It was one of those maybe if I feel like it. Then I heard Roger Ebert review the movie and he just raved over it. Went so far as to say that of all the animated movies out this year it should be the one to win the Academy Award for best animated film. "Really", I thought? "Maybe I will have to go see this after all." I am very glad I did. I loved Cars and really liked Over The Hedge but I have to say the story line on this is better than Cars. Cars was predictable. You knew where the story was headed. This story went off in a direction I didn't expect. And the writing in general was just sharp.

BlueSkyDriveBy - OK. Now I am going to have to see it again in 3D

The 3-D is in IMAX theaters only, I think. So you have to find one out your way to see it. I saw the Polar Express in IMAX 3-D and loved it. I was horribly disapointed when the 3-D version was not included on the DVD, so I didn't get it. Since I can't see 3-D anymore until after the eye surgery, I will just have to hope that gets done soon and I can see it in 3-D. I hope this time the DVD will have the 3-D version. It can be done with all the new technology out there, probably just not as clear and sharp as in IMAX theaters though. I have heard nothing but good about this movie. Word of mouth is very good.

It's NOT at Imax theaters. It's at theaters with Real-D screens. These are normal size screens, but they are silver screens, unlike a normal screen.

Yes, I found it is playing in Real-D at the Edwards Long Beach 26 which I go to a lot. It is a regular theater, not IMAX. It is also playing at the Irvine Spectrum in Real-D. I know they have IMAX there but the listing doesn't indicate if it is on the regular size screen or the IMAX screen. I will go to Long Beach as it is closer.

Re: MONSTER HOUSE have you seen it?

Just came back from seeing Monster House and it was GREAT!

Kicks Cars but IMO. Go see it now. Trailer looks dumb and the premise sounds like it doesn't work but don't be fooled! It captured so many kid elements. The animations were so true to life...

Here is a link to a good review on ScreenIt. It captures my thoughts exactly about this film.
