Johnny Carson Dies

Johnny Carson, the "Tonight Show" TV host who served America a smooth nightcap of celebrity banter, droll comedy and heartland charm for 30 years, has died. He was 79. "Mr. Carson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning," his nephew, Jeff Sotzing, said.

I was so saddened to hear this when I got up this morning. He was a true genius, very classy, and a hell of a funny guy.

Thanks for the wonderful memories and countless laughs, Johnny. You will truly be missed.

Wow... thatnks for reporting that. This is the first I'v heard of it... how sad! He was a comical genious. He'll be missed for sure!

Late night TV simply hasn't been the same since he retired.

I also just heard about this on CNN while flipping around the dial. How sad and should be another reason for people to not smoke, as he did and he died of emphysema this morning. Late night TV has not been the same and he went out on top. Thanks for all the laughs Mr. Carson, you had class.

I was saddened to hear about his passing.
I saw a program dedicated to him earlier today. It had some clips of the funniest moments from his show, and that only reminded me of how funny he really was.
He'll be missed, of course.
