Does anyone else despise the modern Disney channel?

Here's what I remember of the original channel:
    vintage disney cartoons
    vintage disney movies
    "imagine"
    "dateline: Disney"
    "the edison twins"
    "danger bay"
    "the watcher in the woods"
    "something wicked this way comes"
    "mr. boogedy"
    "not quite human"
    "the boy who could fly"
    "Robin Hood"
    "the sword in the stone"
    "sleeping beauty"
    "Candleshoe"
    "escape to witch mountain"

What's on modern DC? non-stop tween shows; 24 hours a day; that's so raven and such. . .they were making a good move with the Disney vault, but they decided that they should show minor-targeted programming at 2 in the morning.
    Seriously, what the hell?
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

Re: Does anyone else despise the modern Disney channel?

    Of course!

Here's what I remember from back int he day...

    For the kiddies:
    Mousercise
    You & Me Kid
    Dumbo's Circus
    Pooh Corner

    For the older kiddies:
    Kids Inc
    Babysitter's Club
MMC (before Brit Brit or Xtina came along)
    DTV

    For the whole family:
Classic Disney movies (animated & live action)

For the adults (aka Disney Nighttime/Disney Channel After Dark... which started at 9pm):
    A Hard Day's Night
    David Bowie: Black Tie/White Noise
    various other concert specials
classic films geared more towards the adults that remember them

I do. The new Disney Channel is downright annoying and WAY too generic.

Regarding Vault Disney, and the many of us who have campaigned openly (and so far fruitlessly) for its return, you may want to check out some of these earler threads...

What ever happened to the Valt Disney Show?

And here's one that even has a link to email a guy at the Disney Channel...I know I did...

Get Vault Disney Back on the Air.....Here's How

And another one missing the "real" Disney Channel...

Does anybody else miss "The (real) Disney Channel"?

My solution is that Disney create a "Disney Classic" channel, for older demo folks like me and for curious younger viewers...like "TV Land" or Disney's own "ESPN Classic"...

I prefer a lot of the old shows too. I think a Boomerangg or TV Land type of Disney channel might be awesome.

I agree. I would love it if they showed all their old stuff on like...Disney Classics. Would be cool. Only time I ever watch the Disney channel is if they're playing an animated movie. Saw bits and pieces of Finding Nemo last time it was on.

I too despise the new Disney Channel. I remember vault disney and when they used to show all those old shows of Walt talking about the parks. Those were my favorite!

The late night "Vault Disney" shows were on until just a few years ago...long after they they went "basic cable".

BTW...It's still a pay channel...as is ESPN or Discovery or TBS, etc...you just don't have to pay extra.

Today's Disney Channel is nothing but tween crap. The Disney Company have pretty much forgotten about entertaining the whole family and pretty much cater to the tween market which is a real shame.
I keep hoping things will change but Im not so sure anymore. I cant believe the tween market is that huge.

I like your idea of a "Disney Classic" channel. some of the old stuff they're releasing is available on DVD, but much of it, I fear, is gone forever.
Incidentally, one of the things I really miss is the inbetween shows programming, like that classic 60s era driver's education film with that redheaded kid. Man, I never got tired of that.

Re: Does anyone else despise the modern Disney channel?

I'd love a Vault Disney channel, but I'd settle for a return of the Vault Disney show on late nights! Honestly, if it wasn't in basic cable, I mean, if it was an add-on channel, I would not bother subscribing to it, because I haven't watched the Disney channel since they trashed the Vault Disney show - there's nothing else worth watching on there!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I completely agree. I've just about had enough of "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody", "That's So Raven", and "Hannah Montana". Sure they can be entertaining at times, but I MUCH prefer the old classics. The only "good" show I watch now is the "House of Mouse".
