    . . .

Has anyone else felt this way?
That is a very interesting observation. I know exactly what you are saying. It didn't strike me as odd, because I read lots of Ann Rice (who goes on forever about EVERYTHING). And I agree with you that more books would have made it easier to tell the back story. Although, that would throw off the whole notion of fitting an entire school year into every book.

and remember... these books keep getting larger.... from book 3 to book 4.. it nearely doubled in size...

    5 was larger as well...

You could make them even larer.... but when making them into movies such as recently.. a lot of thigns will dissappear to fit within the time constraints...

(Hitchikers had a problem with that.... some things were forgotten..)

Ms. Rowling has said from the beginning that there would be 7 HP books. I'm not suprised she's crammed as much backstory into the last 3 books as she could. I'm sure all of it will pay off in the next couple of books!
I can't wait for the next book - and I've got my fingers crossed that it's a great big whopper of a story.

It's not the back story that bothers me- it is the way she presents it. Monologue style data dumps.
Pages- 870 paperback for Order of the Phoenix- 672 hardback for Half Blood Prince.

Has everyone seen the new trailer?

I especially love the puberty evolution in the beginning.
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

What on earth did Ron do to his hair?! Despite that, I'm excited. I need to read those books again!

I, too, am excited for the next book. Hence all the chit chat about reading the book while waiting in line for the 50th!

Saw a bunch of behind the scenes tid-bits on Sat. They showed a bunch on ABC during The Chamber of Secrets. Looks really good! The dragons look awesome!!
