http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr..._id=1003124721George Lucas is donating $175 million, through his Lucas Foundation, to the newly renamed University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, his alma mater. Of the donation, $75 million will be earmarked for the construction of new educational buildings and renovations of existing structures at the school, while $100 million will provide an endowment.
Taken together, the gifts are the largest single donation in USC's history, university president Steven Sample said. The School of Cinematic Arts, under the leadership of Dean Elizabeth Daley, was known as the USC School of Cinema Television, but the USC board of trustees has voted to rename it. The new name will be announced Oct. 4 at a ceremony on the USC campus.
