'Déjà Vu' certainly doesn't sound like a familiar story

Déjà Vu is not the easiest movie for director Tony Scott to describe.
It's a terrorism thriller. It's a love story. It's science fiction. It stars Denzel Washington as a government agent investigating a ferry bombing that kills hundreds. Washington — by using a technological spyglass that can look backward in time — falls in love with a woman whose death he is trying to solve.

"It's a difficult story to tell but that's its strength — its weakness. It's so complex, but that's what attracted me to it," says Scott (Top Gun, True Romance, Crimson Tide).

Déjà Vu is also the first movie to begin filming in New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. "It's a city in a time warp and unlike any other American city I've ever seen. It's the perfect place for this story, a love story set in a strange time shift."

Déjà Vu opens nationwide Nov. 22.
