Wow, I had no idea I read this when it was newly published. Guess I always assumed it was a "classic"! One of my all time favorites. Wonder if the movie will fit my imagination.

    Very nice poster art!

Watch it ruined by a committee that runs it through several Photoshop passes and turns it into two giant heads for the DVD release.

I haven't been so excited for a movie since I don't know when. That poster is gorgeous.

I wish they would have left it based in the 70's though. I think that would have been waaaaay better. More authentic.

It remains my favorite book since 4th grade and my older two daughters have read it and love it so much. I loved watching them bawl afterward. It was the first book that made them both cry, as it was mine.

This should be interesting... No mention of Narnia either...

    Wonder what the budget is...

    I love this though:

What are they going to do? Create a Banc of Terabirtia?

If there were big stars featured in the film with contracts that guaranteed their likenesses be specifically prominent I'd probably agree. It's not the case here, and we'll probably see another one-sheet prior to the film's release. Hopefully as stunning as this teaser art.

I would hope so. I don't mind minor redesigns to poster art due to various sizing and dimension issues, but far too many DVD covers still are horribly redesigned and the theatrical poster art forgotten. (I should probably make a separate thread about this.)

Wow, never heard of this book before! Maybe I'll go out and read it to see if I'll like it.

    Cellarhound-

You realize that Terabithia has no connection to Narnia other than the fact that Walden Media has the rights to both, right?

Ooooh I loved this book when I was a kid. I think I first read it in third or fourth grade. I just hope they stick as closely as possible to the book - I am always sooo afraid when they make a movie based on a book I love....I always think of Matilda and shake my head - I hope they live up to the spirit of this wonderful book. Hmmm...now I have to go to the Library and check it out again!

Re: 'Bridge to Terabithia' promotional planning

I saw that this book was based on a true story. The author was on television a long time ago and said this was based on her son and his friend. That made me cry even more. When I was in school in the 80s it was required reading in third grade (GATE classes anyways). We had to read Bridge to Teribethia and Summer of the Swans. There was an 80s or early 90s movie of Bridge. I still have it on tape at my parents' house.

It's like Meg Ryan's character in You've Got Mail says, "When you read a book as a child, it becomes a part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does."

Re: 'Bridge to Terabithia' promotional planning

I remember my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Ferrarini reading this book to our class. I am 32 now and I can't wait to go buy it this afternoon just so I could read it to my daughter. She's 13 and it's been a year since I have read to her (she says she's too old now) but I want her to capture the same experience I did when it was read to me. This book truly sparks the imagination and I remember creating fantasy lands with my friends after reading it.

Now it will be a movie!! That is fantastic. I do hope that it will be just as good as the book. You know how that goes sometimes but I will hope for the best.
I suffer from infantile thoughts of grandiosity
