The Beatles in a Disney Animated Feature?

I would like to expand my inner geek with this idea.

I read a review for "Lilo and Stitch" once, and the critic dsaid it would be interesting if Disney dipped into the songbook of other pop icons, such as the Beatles.

    What do you guys think?

Re: The Beatles in a Disney Animated Feature?

While we're on the subject of music, did you know we were going to do a Beatles number in "The Jungle Book?" That's right, the song, "We're Your Friends" initially had a rock beat not unlike a popular singing group recently imported from the U.K. As the popularity of this longhaired group continued to soar, we thought, why not incorporate this pop style into our film? However, Walt Disney was no fan of the fab four. He saw them as a flash in the pan, and said they would be forgotten in a few years. Walt suggested we stick with something that would never go out of style, such as a barbershop quartet. I confess I didn't totally agree with Walt on this one, but I did get to take home a handful of Beatles albums that the studio had paid for. As for the singing group, I think Walt Disney might have been surprised. Rather than being forgotten, the Beatles went on to achieve some degree of popularity for a few more years."

Well, Gnomeo and Juliet is to have a soundtrack featuring many classic Elton John tunes... so, they're way ahead of you.

It depends if it's tastefully done. The way the most of the recent films have been, I'd have to say thanks, but no thanks.

I like Elvis in Lilo & Stitch. The only problem is my students don't know who Elvis is. When I teach them a dance to Hound Dog, they all just say it's Lilo and Stitch rather than it's Elvis Presley!

Why not have Sir Paul write some songs for a new film?

Good idea... but just uding the old , timeless tunes would be even better.

I think it would have been interesting to feauture real conflict within the story and not regress into Disney's past of oh-too-wacky characters.

I have heard a few things about The Beatles songs in animation... there was talk about doing a "Fantasia" section featuring a song by The Beatles... sort of getting into more popular forms of music, like the Gershwins, the Beatles, etc....

then there was also a DreamWorks movie that was supposed to have been made (I think it got cancelled and most of the people went to work on Madagascar) which was supposed to be The Beatles but all the characters were, I think, Penguins... called "Rockumentary" and it was going to use Beatles songs, too.

All of that sounds awful. I hope they don't do any of that ever.

    Go see LOVE everyone!!!
