Hanging Up The Mic - Bob Barker

One of the most beloved game show hosts of all time is hanging up his mic after 50 years.

    http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20061031/116234028001.html

Its kinda funny, just the other day, I was thinking he will probably retire soon. And if he did, who would be a good host for the show? One I can think of would be morning dj and Idol host, Ryan Seacrest. From January to May, he works right next door to the TPIR studio. But maybe there are others and you can vote for them in the poll.

But for all of those true fans, ya better get your tickets to the show before the legend closes out with "Control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered." one last time.

I say: no one can fill his shoes.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

They should just hang it up after Bob leaves.

Bob Barker made the Price is Right what it is. No one should take over. Retire the show.

Retire the show, but CBS could still keep Price is RIght in that time slot with classic re-runs for another 30 years!

(my cousin was on Price is Right about two years ago, and though she made it to the showcase showdown at the end of the show, she missed out on the big prize to the other contestant)

I'm still in shock that he's retiring. It was the one thing my grandpa and I used to do every morning. I agree with the reruns. I'm going to miss him.

It honestly doesn't suprize me. As any dedicated TPiR watcher can tell you, Bob is getting worse. Slipping up on rules, prices, etc. He's had a great run, and I commend him for lasting so long. Truly an icon of television, that's for sure.

I agree with everyone that says no one can fill his shoes. I remember they once had a prime time version of it that didnt last long. But the only reason I considered finding a replacement was because its such a fun and popular show. And there are very few game shows left that have been around a long time. Its just TPiR, Wheel, Jeopardy, and Family Fued.

I have to agree with this thought. No one can ever replace Bob nor should they try. Retire the show and air the classic episodes in it's time slot. Without Bob who will remind people to spay and neuter thier pets?

Re: Hanging Up The Mic - Bob Barker

A bunch of my friends took a road trip to go be on the show because we knew Bob was getting close to retiring. That was in 1994!

It was such a fun experience because it was so aweful. We stood in line at 3am and the helpful staffer that showed us where to cue up, ended up showing us the wrong place to wait. We ended up in the very back of the line so none of us in our group were even considered to be contestants. The other great memory was Bob literally yelling at the audience during the commercial break because no one had won a game yet: "Are you all loosers out there?! Aren't there any winners here today?" No one won a game that taping. We were satisified because if no one in our group could play, it was nice that NO one won.

I think Regis could fit the same suave-yet-cranky shoes filled by Mr. Barker for all those years.

it's hard to say who can replace bob if that is possible. regis does sound logical, but i'm sick of seeing him everywhere. and besides, he's old himself and won't last long on the show.

this may be cruel to say, but i swear, i thought we were all gonna see bob croak on stage.... just... slouch over on somebody's brand new car.

i say retire the show, the prizes aren't as good as they used to be. cell phones?! i love seeing a contestant's disappointed face during the second showcase when they reveal the brand new living room. lol, you know they're thinking "that's it?"

But what are people in the hospital going to watch? (Trust me, I am a nursing student. No matter what channel is on, at 10am, its PIR. The TV in a room of a comatose person will turn on at 10 am for PIR.)

How about having Adam Sandler take over as host? I could picture it now, someone loses and Adam yells "The price is wrong b@#*h!"
