    Favorite Animated Movie of 2006

The Academy has just announced that 16 Animated
features qualify for nomination in the Best Animated Feature
category. That means a maximum of 5 of these movies can
    be nominated in this category.

    The full story is here.

What are your favorite animated movies this year?
Which do you think should be nominated? Which
are so bad that they make companies rethink animated
movies altogether. Which movie should win?

Re: Favorite Animated Movie of 2006

Here is a list of the Animated Features
    (in reverse alphabetical order):

    The Wild
    A Scanner Darkly
    Renaissance
    Paprika
    Over the Hedge
    Open Season
    Monster House
    Ice Age: The Meltdown
    Happy Feet
    Flushed Away
    Everyone's Hero
    Curious George
    Cars
    Barnyard
    Arthur and the Invisibles
    The Ant Bully

Which have you seen? Which do you want to see?
Which do you have no desire to see?

The Wild ~ will probably watch when it's on tv
A Scanner Darkly ~ haven't heard about this movie
Renaissance ~ haven't heard about this movie
Paprika ~ haven't heard about this movie
Over the Hedge ~ not too impressed with this movie, many character voices were annoying
Open Season ~ A real fun movie, 3D added to the effects
Monster House ~ a wasted 90 minutes, even in 3D
Ice Age: The Meltdown ~ managed avoiding this one during the spring
Happy Feet ~ looks kinda boring, but the publicity machine is on overdrive for this.
Flushed Away ~ not sure if I want to see
Everyone's Hero ~ haven't heard about this one
Curious George ~ no desire to see
Cars ~ Good movie, great visuals!
Barnyard ~ no desire to see
Arthur and the Invisibles ~ haven't heard about this one
The Ant Bully ~ no desire to see

So, my favorites so far are:

Open Season, good paced movie, can tell some Disney veterans were invovled
in this movie. Had some adventurous fast paced moments and also some
senitmental moments. Good casting for the voices.

Cars, very detailed in animation, and many site gags, well researched, good
story. Story a little slow at points. Doesn't have the emmotional punch as
    some other animated movies.

Stinker of the Bunch ~ Monster House

Curious George and Cars are the only ones I've seen, and I thik they both deserve nominations. When I teach elementary, I am constantly asked if I have seen Over The Hedge, so I think that deserves a nomination too.

Is it just me or aren't they making animated movies based on fairy tales anymore? It seems like all the movies these days feature hyper-active fury little animals or kids. Ok, I am looking forward to Shrek 3 and The Simpsons Movie.

The Wild -- Not too bad, actually. I liked it better than Madagascar...
A Scanner Darkly -- haven't seen it yet
Renaissance -- Haven't heard of it
Paprika -- Haven't heard of it.
Over the Hedge -- enjoyable movie.
Open Season -- Not seen it.
Monster House -- Absolutely loved it.
Ice Age: The Meltdown -- It was ok.
Happy Feet -- not yet seen.
Flushed Away -- not yet seen.
Everyone's Hero -- not yet seen, but heard it wasn't that great.
Curious George -- not yet seen, but I have a feeling it won't be the winner.
    Cars -- Great film.
    Barnyard -- Not seen.
Arthur and the Invisibles -- Haven't heard of it.
The Ant Bully -- Not seen, wished I saw it in 3D.

i LOVED A Scanner Darkly..what an amazing film to watch..but its a bit too "high end" on the odd scale to acutally get noticed for any awards..but dang is it cool

Ant Bully had Bruce Campbell in it, so that automatically makes it cool in my book

But i'd vote for Monster House, i had such an enjoyable time watching this movie

    My faves of the year

    3. Over the Hedge
    2. Flushed Away
    1. Cars

As much as most didn't like cars, I think it's a shoe in for the oscar.

    Nominated will be:

    Cars
    Over The Hedge
    Flushed Away
    Monster House

and I'd say either Ice Age or Open Season in the fifth spot.

    My kids have seen:

    The Wild
    Over the Hedge
    Monster House
    Ice Age: The Meltdown
    Curious George
    Cars
    The Ant Bully
The only ones I've seen are Ice Age and Cars. I liked both, but didn't love them. I'm pretty good at getting grandparents to take the kids to animated movies.

The only family I know to see Flushed Away, said they all wanted to walk out yesterday. The parents said it was reeeeaallly boring and their five year old asked, "Do we have to watch the whole thing??"

I try not to see ones I don't think I'll like... so, to that end, I didn't see any I disliked.
