SAN FRANCISCO, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to create cleaner, safer and more beautiful communities and roadways, Keep America Beautiful®, Hands On Bay Area and San Francisco Honda will rally volunteers to participate in broad-scale community improvement projects on Saturday, May 14, beginning at 9:45 a.m., at San Francisco's Buchanan Mall as part of Keep America Beautiful's national Great American Cleanup(TM).
This initiative is showcasing American Honda Motor Company, Inc.'s Road to a Cleaner America campaign, which is part of the Great American Cleanup. On behalf of Honda, Keep America Beautiful will be awarding a $2,000 grant to Hands On Bay Area in support of its activities. In addition, ABC television's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" star Paige Hemmis will lend her makeover expertise and work side-by-side with volunteers to help transform San Francisco's Buchanan Mall. The City of San Francisco will receive a Great American Cleanup "Star City" citation on Friday, May 13, in recognition of Mayor Gavin Newsom's "SF Can" anti-litter initiative. Former San Francisco Public Works Director Ed Lee, who was recently appointed city administrator, also will participate in the ceremonies.
