    Casino Royale......

    ....is GREAT!

It was sold out in Capitola and there was a huge line for the next show too when we came out of the theater! I asked my hubby "Would it be mean of me to walk down the line talkin g really loudly about how the movie ended?"

I didn't of course, and I'm not saying a word about it here either other than "Go see it!"

I havn't really been fond of Bond movies before, but I loved this one.
Way less emphasis on big ticket special effects and much more story.

    Loved Daniel Craig!

    Re: Casino Royale......

I actually think the original Casino Royale (which is, no doubt, among the most incompetent films ever made) was also very entertaining!

It may be a good movie, but Sean Connery is still the best Bond.

    Re: Casino Royale......

So I finally got to see Casino Royale tonight. It's probably the best Bond in the series. Realistic, with no silly villains. I didn't mind the absence of Q at all, however, what was missing from the beginning credits were artistically camouflaged naked women dancing around. Instead, they give us a polygon Daniel Craig. I wonder how they will approach Bond 22 coming out in two years. If you read the books, Live and Let Die is the next book in the series and bits of Casino Royale are mentioned. So, will they do a remake of Live and Let Die? Rumours are going around that it won't be, but a direct sequel tied to Casino Royale will be produced. It would be interesting if Live and Let Die would be remade without the Roger Moore sillyness.

When Daniel Craig was getting tortured, he should have said George Lazenby's line from On Her Majesty's Secret Service: "This never happened to the other fellow!"

    Re: Casino Royale......

I saw this last night also and I was very impressed. It was entertaining and Daniel Craig- WOW!!! He is super sexy in this movie Only a few things bothered me- one, the fact that the sum of money was $150 million- in the world of international terrorism, that doesn't seem like its worth all the trouble. Secondly, I thought it dragged a bit during the "convalesence, fall in love in Venice" bit of the movie. I know it was necesicary for the development of the Bond character and the plot, and the two definitey had chemistry, it just seemed tacked on and overly long.

Other than that, great film! I think the remake will freshen up the series and Craig is an amazing bond. Two thumbs up!

I was disappointed with the automatic Aston Martin. Wrecked it hella fast, and there weren't many cool gadgets. It wasn't like he was driving a stick or anything...

Still, it's hard to do all those gadgets AND shift. And put his hand around his girl-of-the-minute.

I think this may be explained in Bond 22 as they are planning to make Bond 22 a sequel to Casino Royale, and not just a stand-alone story.

^ one of the many great highlights of the film are the last words on the screen:

I wasn't sure what to think of the new Bond, but he pulled it off in style. I like it though I'm with you that we could have had more Aston-Martin time.

The product placement for the Vaio was obnoxious and the recovery thing in Venice was slow but I realize they needed it. I was just kind of waiting for something to happen.
