Goff’s duties at Disney also increased. Even as he worked on the expanding 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Walt made him part of the team that was helping to merge concepts for a traveling railroad exhibit of mechanized miniature figurines that would travel around the country acting out scenes from famous stories—a precursor for what would eventually become Audio-Animatronics.

Loved this story. I have seen the blueprints of City Hall somewhere, though I can't place at the moment where I have seen it. This is an interesting piece of information about the early beginnings of Audio Animatronics.

Truth be told, Fort Collins is only a partial inspiration for the City Hall. Steve DeGaetano and I posted up other sources that dispute a bit of Goff's claim.
