    Much more at the link....
Hmm, David owes me a dollar, for using the term "Cast Member Matt" without permission from the creator.
In exchange, though, I will use the term "Senator Ed" from now on when referring to the current resort president.

Good take on the interview. That's pretty much what most of us think about him after this.

(Well, it certainly wasn't an upgrade from Matt... That is disapointing.)

    Wow, is Grier a disappointment!

Did you notice how you can actually sense him squirming even in print?

That whole thing about the open door policy is amazing. It's like he knows he needs to say that he has an open door policy, and yet doesn't really want to do it. His only example is what someone happened to say to him at the previous night's Christmas party?

But it all ends with him saying that anybody is indeed welcome, but particularly "leaders". In other words, "What have I said? I don't want everybody coming in.

Who are the "leaders" anyway? Is this a new term? Does he mean leads?

Okay, here are some things I think Grier wanted to say but forgot.

Are there any changes at the Disneyland Resort?
A: Yes, we plan to update the Colossus with an all new soundtrack.

Can you tell us more about your open door policy?
A: Yes, I welcome anybody who wants to come in with any problems or concerns. Just please let my - I mean my- secretary know, you know, what time and date you will be there for when I'm not - I mean in case I happen to not be there at the time.

What are your favorite childhood memories of Disneyland?
A: Well, the Disneyland 50th was really tremendous and I really hope we can increase revenue more than when I was a child.

Is it true that there is going to be a Midway Mania attraction?
A: (Laughs) A Midway, what was that second word you used? Maniac? Did I mention that Walt once said something about Disneyland will never be complete. Or was that his brother Roy? No, it was Walt.

How do you feel about doing interviews?
A: They're okay I suppose. Wait, are you going to print that? Let's change it. Can you say I love doing it. No, I enjoy, no let's just say. They're okay.

Well this morning I stop at the Inn Between to get a box of cereal for breakfast. I go to the cold case and get a carton of milk. I sit down and pour my corn flakes in a bowl and as I add the milk to it I notice a missing persons picture on the milk carton. It was a picture of Ed! I had to go back to costuming because milk shot out of my nose...

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you didn't mind my sarcasm. Had to have fun with that. Yeah, I hope to stick around here. It's fun. I've been visiting MiceAge for a long time.

I think I'll change my screen name to ChimneySweep though.

A: "Not necessarily, affordable housing is something we are all looking for along the road of life. It's a Small World After All!"

Has anyone seen this guy around the park talking to guests or CMs? Or does he just trot out for CM parties and limo rides?
I got more to add to the list:

Q:Why does Disneyland have such a high turnover rate?
A:There is just too much magic for some people here that they have to leave and come back when they feel they need more.

Q: So pay has nothing to do with it?
A: Of course not! We pay more than the folks over at Knotts Berry Farm!

Q:True, but Knotts doesn't make as much as Disneyland makes. Doesn't it bother you that nobody sticks around past 30 days of employment?
A:Not really. It keeps our staff fresh and new.

Q:Is it true that there are some big changes coming soon to Tomorrowland?
    A:Yes!

    Q:Can you elaborate on that?
    A:No......well, no.

Q: What's going to happen in DCA?
    A: What's DCA?

    Q: Disney's California Adventure
A:Oh! Yeah, that's a nice park isn't it? I love bear mountain ride.

Qon't you mean Grizzly River Rapids?
    A:Yes, of course.

Q:Any plans to improve the park and get more guests to some?
    A:We are looking into that.

Q:Can you tell us any ideas?
    A:No.

Q:Will the very popular "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks return?
    A:Fireworks are fun!

    Q:Will they return?
    A:Tough to say.

    Q:What do you mean?
A: I think my phone is ringing!

    Q:I don't hear anything.
A:Hello? Mickey! You say Donalds in trouble? I'm on my way!

Q:Mr. Grier, where are you going?
Aonald needs me! I need to go!

Funny addition... but I think instead of Bear Mountain ride, Grier would call it Wolf Mountain ride.

Re: Disneyland's Grier talks about his plans for the park - OC Register, 12/12/06

In sports reporting I've covered a few coach and manager press gatherings in my time, in which they are asked a specific question about their team or an upcoming game, and they talk and talk and talk without really saying anything, and we'd take it all down and report it as if it really meant something.

Those coaches had nothing, apparently, on Ed Grier.

After reading the article, I have one last question for Mr. Grier.

What, exactly, are your plans for the future of the Disneyland Resort?

"Mr. Grier, you just won the Presidency of DLR...what are you going to do next?"

I didn't see one straight answer in there...filled with fluff. I have to say this, his handlers sure know what to have him say.

So far I am not impressed by this. I want to hear from Iger or Matt Ouimet...(who I know is gone). Matt Ouimet was the Walt Disney of Today! He brought Disneyland back to its era of Walt Disney! Way to Go Matt! At least Jon Lasseter (who worked and has a passion for Disneyland) can see things from a Walt perspective!

Re: Disneyland's Grier talks about his plans for the park - OC Register, 12/12/06

Grier certainly had a LONG honeymoon period for
being a DL President! I'm sure part of that was
due to the fact that he moved from Japan to the
US. (and partly due to the fact that he has been
doing an admirable job of playing "Hide and Seek".)

BUT it has been 5 months now, and only now are
we getting first impressions of him. Games over,
Grier. and so is the fancy footwork avoiding questions.
This wasn't a good way to start. At least Iger had
the guts to come forward with some honest statements
Like admitting that DCA is a Problem. Even Cynthia
Harriss had a pleasant disposition. Unfortunately,
Griers 1st words seems to be more Eisnerantic and
Presslermatic. Hope we see something better from
him, and soon, like within the next month. Otherwise
he's going to have a difficult time with the Disney community.

Grier Who?!?! I haven't seen this guy yet. or met anyone that has. Granted I hang out with the Night Breed after all the nice people have gone home to bed. But Matt used to walk the park in the morning and wonder by the attractions to talk to the maintenance guys and pass on the latest gossip. So far the only sightings of this guy require a camera and press to be present. Hey Al...Come on out and Meet the Troops in the Trenches! We Don't Bite....Hard!
