As long as they don't make another Silent Hill movie I'm happy, unless it starts where the first left off and Rose and Sharon try to get out of the netherworld or something and have to deal with more monsters

I liked the old Fog alot more ._. it did something called spook you, not gross you out

I like horror movies myself, but I do think there is serious overkill with this genre in the theatres today. Saw "Black Christmas" for the first time on Christmas day with my sister, and I wasn't amused.

I think originality in major films died a long time ago.

Plantinum Dunes (behind * above) is also readying a 'Friday the 13th' film and remakes of Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' and Kathryn Bigelow's 'Near Dark'.

Geez. I watched the special features on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning DVD, and I thought it was cool that Platinum Dunes was specializing in Horror...

Until I learned they specialized in REMAKING classics.

Don't forget, they're also remaking Tale of Two Sisters and One Missed Call...

And another recent notable pile of drek that you missed in your list is Pulse.

One remake that I absolutely love: The Happiness of the Katakuris, which was a remake of The Quiet Family.

Horror movies aren't the same - there is no imagination - it's how much blood and gore and how many different ways you can torture and kill a person with no rhyme or reason.

At least with the horror movies when I would watch them - Psycho, any original Stephen King movie, the original babysitter movies, etc.

I will admit I like the Screams (and the knock off comedies), I like Freddie, Jason and Mike Meyers - but all this new stuff, forget it, I don't bother

I think it's funny that they're remaking foreign movies - that are only a few years old. Dark Water was bad in both languages.

I loved Alien verses predator, but this real bad gore crap does not do it for me.

I don't even think those were horror films. I'd rather dub them Gore films or Psychedelical thrillers. But they definatly are not horror films .

Aren't some film makers remaking the really gorey japanese horror films? The Grudge was from there I believe - my daughter saw the original Japanese version and she said it was one of the sickest but best horror film made. I won't watch it - I'm a chicken - I put myself in the place of the person being tortured and get too sad and scared.

True creativity died a long time ago in Hollywood. Like someone else pointed out it's not just horror it's all film genres. The last horror film I saw that I liked was probable See No Evil.
