    Madagascar -the Dreamworks movie

The Dreamworks animation film Madagascar starts Friday May 27th. Read the news on it here, here, here, here and here. What are your thoughts on this film or the story? Are you going to see it?

I want to see this. It looks like it could be quite entertaining. DreamWorks CGI animation has been doing some pretty cool stuff ever since Shrek mania hit. Those penguins in the movie look like they're the real show stealers. I crack up every time I see them in commercials.

Jr. Miss Sunnygirl has informed me that we ARE, in fact, seeing this movie. Whether I like it or not.

just got back from seeing it... the movie was really funny but they relied too much on the jokes to carry the movie, there was they did not carry the story far enough and it seemed like the characters had no real heart to them... the movie was very short in my mind (short enough that my bottom never hurt during the movie from sitting too much)

overall very good movie, quite worth while :o

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, thought it
had great potential, but unfortunately it does fall flat and
some of the jokes feel forced. It's not a horrible movie, it's
    just so-so.

I just saw the movie tonight and I thought it was ok. I didnt think it had a very good story line. The humor was ok. I might be in the minority but I miss the traditional hand drawn animation. It looks like everything from here on out will be CGI.

I really, REALLY loved the penguins. But I thought this one was just kind of meh. It had some funny parts, but even at an hour and a half or so, I kept checking my watch.

I saw it last night. Was pretty funny. The lemurs and penguins stole the show for me. I totally lost it laughing when...

    Spoiler
The penguins made it to Antarctica, then looked around the cold and one fo them says, "Well, this sucks!"

The lemur king was a riot. "EVERYBODY ROBOT!"

Not a movie I'd see in the theatre again, but I'll definitely rent it when ti comes out on video.

Seems like Dreamworks, along with a lot of other studios producing CG movies are still relying on the novelty of the genre to sell the product rather than a genuine story. The movie was fun, but the jokes were so often and so fast. Really random stuff too, like Pixar with ADD or something. Overall, the film will be forgotten over time. It's quite clear that PIXAR is the only company capable of making quality CG films and not just films for hyper active kids...
