    'Spider-Man 4'

EXCL: David Koepp in Talks for Spider-Man 4!

    Source: Superhero Hype!
    January 20, 2007

Superhero Hype! has learned exclusively from a very reliable source that Spider-Man screenwriter David Koepp is in talks with Sony Pictures to write Spider-Man 4!

Our source tells us that the studio is really excited about Spider-Man 3 after having seen a first cut of the movie. Add to that the phenomenal reaction to the screenings of footage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and the momentum leading up to this point from last summer's Comic-Con, which have sparked the studio to approach Koepp about penning the fourth film's screenplay.

Koepp is not signed yet, but the studio is definitely moving forward with another installment.

Keopp recently finished the script for Indiana Jones 4 which received the green light from George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. Besides the first Spider-Man movie, he has written such blockbusters as War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, Panic Room, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Carlito's Way.

The first two "Spider-Man" films earned $1.6 billion dollars total worldwide. Spider-Man 3 kicks-off the summer on May 4.

ONLY if they have a worthwhile story to tell AND can get the cast and director back again... Which won't be nearly as easy this time around.

Kirsten Dunst has already stated that 3 will would be her last so that's one original that won't be back if they do a 4th movie. I would rather see a Venom spin off done.

I think the franchise will do just fine without her.

Just because she's said it, doesn't mean it's carved in stone. They can get her back. It's just going to cost them a lot more money than the previous films.

    ...but Gwen Stacy dies

I think Betty Brant would be a safer choice or bring in Felicia Hardy aka the Black Cat

I would love to see the Black Cat brough in to the movie. She is one of my favorie charaters in the Spiderman world. The only other reason I'm not sure if there will be a 4th is in the last issue of Empire magazine Tobey sort hints that Spiderman 3 will be his last one. I know money talks so we will see. I know you can recast parts but that doesn't always work (look at the Batman franchise and how long it took them to get it right again). As for Gwen dying yes that is true in the comic books. But this is the movie world where they tend to do things thier own way so says Gwen must die in the movie?

    Columbia, Koepp talk 'Spider-Man'

Studio in talks with writer over fourth installment

    Koepp

    By Michael Fleming
    Variety
    January 22, 2007

Shortly after getting their first look at "Spider-Man 3," Columbia Pictures execs have begun negotiating with David Koepp to pen the script for a fourth installment of the franchise.

Koepp, who most recently wrote the draft of a fourth "Indiana Jones" project that got George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford to reteam for Paramount, scripted the 2002 Spidey film that launched the studio's most lucrative franchise.

Alvin Sargent scripted the second and third installments; all the pics in the Marvel Comics franchise were directed by Sam Raimi.

"Spider-Man 3" bows on May 4, with Thomas Haden Church playing Sandman and Topher Grace as Venom. Laura Ziskin produces with Avi Arad and Grant Curtis.

Col is just beginning the process of development on the fourth Spidey pic -- a pricey exercise since new deals will have to be made with Tobey Maguire, Kirstin Dunst and James Franco, along with Raimi if he decides to return to direct a fourth film.

The studio would release the pic in 2009 or 2010.

The first two movies had a combined worldwide gross north of $1 billion.

    Re: 'Spider-Man 4'

I have one question is anyone else having a hard time seeing Topher Grace as Eddie Brock? I mean he was Eric Forman on that 70's show for pete sake. I just can't see him as the man that becomes Spidys worst nightmare.
