.”We All Love Ennio Morricone” is the title of a new all-star tribute album celebrating the music of the legendary Italian film composer, to be released by Sony Classical on February 20. The album features 17 different interpretations of famous Morricone titles, and the artist line-up is an impressive one: Celine Dion (performing ”I Knew I Loved You”), Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock (”The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”), Bruce Springsteen (”Once Upon a Time in the West”), Andrea Bocelli (”Conradiana”), Metallica (”The Ecstasy of Gold”), Yo-Yo Ma (”Maléna”), Renée Fleming (”Come Sail Away”), Daniel Mercury and Eumir Deodato (”Conmigo”), Dulce Pontes (”La Luz Prodigiosa”), Chris Botti (”Love Affair”), Vanessa and the O's (”Je chagerais d’avis”), Roger Waters (”Lost Boys Calling”), Denyce Graves (”Could Heaven”), and Taro Hakase (”Addio Monti”).
The album was produced by Luigi Caiola, who previously worked on the 2003 Morricone retrospective, ”io, Ennio Morricone”. The maestro himself comments: ”You realize that you have composed important music when someone, somewhere is playing it. I am however astonished, obviously in a good way, that famous artists from the musical world have paid tribute to me by participating in the project.” Morricone himself wrote new music for the album, transitional pieces that connect the individual tracks into a continuously flowing listening experience
