No Disney should be marketing to the SAME People they HAVE been for 51 years. MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES. Specifaclly for WDW, and MIddle Class Families AND APers for DL. The way its BEEN since Eisner took over. Rasulo does NOT KNOW or CARE on how to market the parks, least of all RUN them.

I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh at this. The photography released are fun and imaginative. It's an angle they've never tried before and I think it's quite brilliant. Disney has of late, been associated with cheese and kidstuff and that's not how I know my Disneyland. Even the 50th anniversary, which was done very well, was marketed too childish for my tastes. Year of the Million Dreams wasn't starting off well either.

But the photography is colorful, imaginative, mature, and most of all: classy. It doesn't dumb anything down. It's fantastic revisions of the classic animated films brought to life and I think it's great.

It's not only to bring bodies to the park anymore. It's to create brand awareness to those who might otherwise turn the page quickly. People will stop to take a double take at this photography and will be impressed with it, regardless of actor or race or anything else.

Two to three threads have already started here to talk about the photography... both positive and incredibly negative (in the most racist way). Doesn't matter anymore does it? We're talking about it. We're showing our friends. We're still going to the parks.

    Disney wins.

Amazing photographs; I love the darker, almost "legendary" look they have. Are there more coming?

More importantly, does anyone know where you could download hi-res versions of these?

The more I look at them, the more I love them. And actually, I wouldn't mind seeing these as short commercials with the "YOAMD" music (a slightly different version of James Newton Howard's "flying" from Universal's Peter pan [2003]) playing as it does target a different audience (me, someone without kids) then what they have out now.

The photos are stunning--classy and yet still fun. I hope there will be more (especially if it diverts cash from the multicolor swirl budget).

Re: Annie Liebowitz Disney Photography. What do you think?

I think it is great when Disney works with noted artists to bring their "take" on Disney icons. Some may not like them and that's cool - it is art. It really isn't a lot different than the park having stuff by Shag (kind of like) or the Thomas Kincade painting (can't stand his stuff.) Disney, Disneyland and the stable of characters are a huge part of the popular culture of our country. They mean different things to different people. Even in the skewering from The Simpsons crew or Robert Smigel comes with an undertone of appreciation.

If Disney could only approach characters in one way, there would be no multi-billion dollar Pirates franchise.

These photos are absolutely fabulous. I think they are all great. I am anxious to see more.

These are brilliant! They capture such an attitude of fantasy and at the same time reality. The use of a-listers reminds me so much of DL opening day. I love the tie-in's to the park attractions too. And as if Johanson wasn't already drop dead gorgeous, they put her in a Disney princess outfit. I hope they do tones more of these.

And to those who are whining and complaining, wow you have sunk to a new low of self centered obsession with Disney. I have nothing more to say.

This guy is right, can we get a shot of Larry the Cable Guy dressed as Snow White?

I mean, that's much more in line with the traditional Disneyland audience, right?

Re: Annie Liebowitz Disney Photography. What do you think?

Personally I don't want to see a dramitized version of the park like that. I love to see the park we have shot in beautiful ways. I have a book called "The First Quarter Century" and the last few pages are just wonderful shots of Disneyland. No post-processing, no cheesy effects, no celebrities. It's really something to behold.

I've seen a lot better photography from people on this board.

As far as who to market to goes, targeting certain groups is complete nonsense. "Disney magic" appeals to people of all types, young and old or rich and poor.
