Re: Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Colon, Movie Film For Theaters

The Mayor of Boston was furious and reported that it cost the city somewhere in the millions to provide all the Emergency Service vehicles and personnel and I am pretty sure they are going to Sue Turner for those costs. The Fire Chief and Police Chief were also very upset.

You have to remember, in this Post 9/11 world we live in, that the two planes that crashed into the Twin Towers took off from the Boston Airport. In this day you cannot tell if a thing with blinking lights is something that is harmless or something that could go boom at anytime, and even if anybody touched it to see what it was. I don't think Boston is/was out of line at all in their response or fury. I am sure that if you were on you way to work, a meeting or just over to some friends house to get together and you were not able to get anywhere because traffic was at a standstill, buses where closed down, etc., you would be a lot more upset about it than just seeing or reading about it. Put yourself in those peoples places, and the humor goes away real quick.

What the heck happened in Boston?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Seriously? This really happened?
How did they think they were bombs? What kind of advertising was it

They were small electric signs that lit up at night...with flashing lights...

The signs were shaped like the characters from the cartoon shows...

I guess people thought they were bombs because there were wires coming out of them...

Sorry, but I have to disagree. thejoshualee is right - they were lite brites.

I agree with the message board user that they mentioned a little while ago on ABC World News - if 6 years after 9/11, authorities can't tell the difference between a catroon character and a bomb, well, then, that's just pathetic.

    How weird.
Did they plant them under cars or something?
Does nobody in Boston watch the show

No they were placed in a subway station and on support columns for busy bridges that carry cars and trains among other places like hospitals. Some were found near fake pipe bombs also. The extremely poor design of the package and also that the did not get permission to display the ads lead to the problem. Surely a company as large as Turner Broadcasting can afford to execute a better marketing campaign. I am sure the implication of the finger gesture the characters are making did not help.

Was Turner/Adult swim not responsible for hiring the guerilla marking firm and those two clowns who actually posted the ads?

Ok, that does make more sense now. Biased, but more sensical

So if they did it elsewhere, why did Boston panic but nowhere else?

they hired the agency, but the agency hired the help to do it....

Well that seems to be the question of the day. One I have no response for. The only theory I have is; were the ads in other cities placed in similar locations? and were they constructed as crude? I have seen 1st grade students do better work than what was done by those so called "artists".

And there is no biased opinon in my posts. And yes the show is just as popular here as anywhere else, however I personally do not watch it.
