Welll then all the more reason why they should choose who they hire a lot better. The problem is in the exectution of the whole project, which Turner should have been aware of, if their name is on the line.

I could understand maybe that they city thought that they were bombs, but from what I've read from news reports, they had been up for 2 weeks before that, so why all the sudden someone decided to panic is just stupid.

I agree with the message board user that they mentioned a little while ago on ABC World News - if 6 years after 9/11, authorities can't tell the difference between a catroon character and a bomb, well, then, that's just pathetic.
    I whole-heartedly agree with that.
I mean I'm not saying what these guys did was right but the city over-reacted!
It did turn into one of the most brilliant (though not planned) marketing strategies ever!

Perhaps it was the fake pipe bombs, which had not been there for the 2 weeks, found nearby where two of the ads where placed. One at a hospital and one at the Sullivan Sq train station, which is where the whole problem began. Leading authorities to believe it was more than a coincidence. Where they also placed by the "artist" or someone else has yet to be determined.

That detail about the story has been overlooked amist all the talk of overreaction, finger pointing, and 70's haircuts

I understand that was the case but I don't understand why they would think that two Lite Brite's with characters from Aqua Teen Hunger Force would be a threat after they had been there for two weeks and had been seen in other cities. Did they think that the terrorists left them there to see how long it would take the Americans to find them? I understand why they needed to be cautious, but they just ended up overreacting. I don't know if everyone else did but I did read the whole story.

If anyone wants to see some pictures you can go:

The funniest thing about this story is to hear all the news reporters trying to describe the Mooninites.

I am not really sure, maybe it was the placement of the fake pipe bombs where the ads were that made them appear to be part of it like a detonator. Maybe once the first one was discovered they feared their could be some real bombs among the fake ones where the ads were displayed to further complicate the issue all of the remaining ads were suspicious.

    You have meatwad's autograph!
    I am jealous
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
