Okay, it's a football game - but I wanted people that might not see the regular football threads to know about this.
In honor of Super Bowl weekend, the NFL Network tonight is showing a complete rebroadcast of the game that changed pro football forever - the New York Jets win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.
It took place in January 1969 - when it was still the old NFL and the old AFL. The Colts, from the established league, were 18 point favorites while the brash sex symbol, Broadway Joe Willie Namath, was guaranteeing a Jets win.
Even if you're not a football fan it would be worth a look just to get an idea of what television looked like back then - the complete NBC-TV broadcast from that day with Curt Gowdy doing play by play.
It shows on the NFL Network cable channel today at 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern. I'm lucky enough to have DirecTV so its on channel 212 there. If you have cable (especially Time-Warner)...you may or may not have it.
My TIVO is set.
