    Cinderella III...A Twist In Time

The DVD came out yesterday (2/6/07) and I haven't seen it yet, but it looks interesting. I was just wondering if any other MiceChatters have seen it and what they thought of it.

For the record, I couldn't stand Cinderella II and felt it was a mess. So I'm a bit hesitant to watch the third installment. Personally, I think all the sequels to the full length Disney animated movies are pretty bad. The only one that I actually enjoyed (and I own it too) was Pocahontas II.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on C-III...

I wrote a fairly extensive review on the film a few days ago. You can read it here:

Thanks, Sadako, I'll be sure to take a look at it, as I always enjoy reading your stories and/or seeing the pictures you post. And I apologize to anyone for creating a new thread on this subject matter...I didn't know Sadako had already beat me to it!

    It's just wrong.

    And ugly. And thematically deconstructionist.

And another nail in Walt's coffin (...or urn or freezer as the case may be).

I am going to check it out. I don't agree with the "all Disney sequels are bad" menatilty. I think Lilo & Stitch 2, Lion King 1 1/2 and Bambi II were all fantastic.

Just the list of titles reads like an SNL skit. Funny or depressing? Depends on the day.

Re: Cinderella III...A Twist In Time

Well, at least none of the real sequels feature
    Merideth Vierra (yet).

And I really did like Lion King 1 1/2.
    Lion King 2 was ok.
    Cindy 2 stunk!
Peter Pan 2 was only fair
Hunchback 2 was awful (thankfully I didn't buy it)

Nor did I buy Bambi 2

Cindy 3's plot seems somewhat interesting.

Overall, most of the sequels really placed Disney in
mediocre light, instead of the great light it used to
stand in and re-established for itself in the early
    90's.

Has Disney announced any new direct-to-video sequels since the Pixar acquisition?

SNL is depressing. They all seem to overdose or pick up transvestite hookers and give them rides home.

Re: Cinderella III...A Twist In Time

I have like a whole lot of the Disney sequels, and there have been some bad ones:

    The Good:
    The Rescuers Down Under
    The Tigger Movie
    Fantasia 2000
    Bambi II
    An Extremely Goofy Movie
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II
    The Jungle Book 2
    Kronk's New Groove
    Lady and the Tramp II
    Lilo and Stitch 2
    Lion King 1 1/2
    Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas
    Pooh's Heffalump Move
    Pooh's Heffalump Halloween
    Piglet's Big Movie
Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search For Christopher Robin
    The Return of Jafar
    Return to Neverland
    Stitch: The Movie
    Tarzan II

    The NOT SO good:
    Aladdin King of Thieves
    Atlantis: Milos Return
Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas
    Cinderella II
    Lion King II
    Little Mermaid II
    Pocohanas II
101 Dalmations II: Patch's London Adventure
    Tarzan and Jane
Winnie The Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year
Winnie The Pooh: Seasons Of Giving
Winnie The Pooh: Springtime With Roo

Still I take each with a grain of salt. We don't expect each live action film we see to be fantastic. Animation should not be held to a higher standard than live action.

Re: Cinderella III...A Twist In Time

The Rescuers Down Under doesn't really count since that was given theatrical status so the quality was excellent. And it was a pretty solid film in its own right with a great score by Bruce Broughton.

Jungle Book 2 and Return to Neverland were direct to dvd titles that were put onto the big screen.

And I liked Lion King 1 1/2 as it wasn't really a sequel but just a companion piece to the original. Just entertainment really.

Fantasia 2000, too, doesn't count because it was produced by W.D.F.A. and not DisneyToon Studios.

It's no wonder people stopped going to Disney's animated features; even MiceChat users have trouble distinguishing the productions coming from the different studios.

Re: Cinderella III...A Twist In Time

I've seen most of the direct to video sequels, and I still hold the opinion that most are crap.

Rescuers Down Under and Lion King 1 1/2 are two exceptions. IMO Bambi 2 was some of the worst voice matching/voice acting known to man (I know...of course the can't get the originals, all the more reason not to make the sequel). I also think Jungle book 2 was some of the worst animation I have ever seen.

The pooh movies tend to do pretty well, just because the style of animation in them is so beautiful to begin with.

To me, it's just beating a dead horse. The same jokes again, not much further character development, and a lower quality of animation.

The concept of Cinderella 3 is interesting, but it kind of bothers me at the same time. We'll see if I ever get around to watching it.

Nothing in this thread seemed to indicate that we were talking about movies produced by Disney Toon Studios exclusively.
