"Gremlins 3" is Direct to Video?

    By: Karl Schneider, News Editor

    Date: Wednesday, February 7, 2007

According to MovieHole, a sequel to the Gremlins franchise may be in the works over at Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. direct to DVD studio.

    Moviehole writes:
“The talk has been going on for quite some time”, the WB source says of a third “Gremlins” film, which many speculate will utilise CGI rather than puppetry. "I think that’s all it is at the moment. Talk. I know [name removed] has a pretty full slate over at Premiere – they’re looking at doing direct to video sequels to Scooby Doo and The Goonies, and as you mentioned, Premiere are soon to start production on The Lost Boys 2 and New Jack City 2 – so won’t be in any rush.

“..it isn’t possible to do anything on the budget of those [DTV sequels], and to be half decent, this thing would have to have a bit of money behind it, so I don’t think one can safely say it’ll definitely end up one of the titles on the Warner Premiere slate, but I believe its a consideration”.

I've been waiting for a Goonies 2 for years!!!!
It's one of the best movies of all times!
Why don't they just do it and hurry up? I heard the old crew is willing to do it again.

I'll go for it if Joe Dante is VERY involved. However, I don't like the CGI idea. Puppetry was what made Gremlins what they were! However, might not be too bad if the make the CGI mimic the puppetry, ala Yoda.

I've been a Gremlins freak for years since I was a small kid.

As much as I'd love to see a sequel to The Goonies, that ship has long since sailed.

Along with One Eyed Willie..............I know.
    It's nice to dream though.
Chunk just won't be Chunk anymore. He'll be like Jared from the Subway commercials.

There may or may not be a Goonies 2 in the works, but there is a Goonies documentary in the works featuring interviews by a number of the stars, director and some others. Check out http://www.thegoonies.org

PS: If you are on the TheGoonies.org message board, I'm on there as Barbossa as well.

I wonder if I can get my gremlin daughter a role in the movie? Bet it will be cute though. The return of Mo!! Were those movies ever meant to be scary?
