On Premiere night, Phillip and I made a trek up to El Capitan through the traffic filled LA highways. It was very much worth it to see this classic film as well as being able to hear from a couple of my own voice acting idols, June Foray and Kathryn Beaumont.
As we arrived, we were greeted by Capt Hook!
And immediately I recognized a friendly face, the lovely CrazyLegs and CaptPhoebus
Peter and Wendy paused for photos. My favorite moment was as CrazyLegs was taking her picture with Peter and Wendy, Peter looks over at Wendy and said "Wendy, I want one of those, so you can push me around all day."
As we waited for the panel to begin, we were treated to some beautiful musical renditions.
Pirates invading the theatre???
Apparently they came from across the street to see the film as well.
The Panel finally began!
Margaret Kerry explained how she got cast as Tinkerbell and we got to hear from Walt himself why he felt this movie needed to be made and why it was so special for him.
They explained how so much emotion is injected into animated character and June Foray showed her sympathy for Japanese Animation voice actors (As a anime voice actress, I became giddy since I knew exactly what she meant firsthand)
And finally we were able to watch a little slideshow back from the 50's of animators and actors hard at work on the film.
Once the panel ended we got not one, but two musical suprises before the film. Richard Sherman introduced a new song written back in the late 30's when Walt first wanted to make Peter Pan that he created music for. Paige O'Hara sings it beautifully along to images from the film. Afterwards, T-Squad performed their version of Second Star To The Right.
We got one more suprise! Before the film, Tinkerbell made a very special live appearance as she sprinkled her own pixy dust throughout the theatre!
CrazyLegs and CaptPhoebus enjoyed the film immensely.
And as we went through the Soda Fountain, I saw a beautiful picture of my long-lost twin sister.
Outside the Soda Fountain, a beautiful window shined out on the street.
The Marquee was brightly lit as well
And as the night came to an end, we said goodbye to our dear friends Al and LostBoy.
We had such a magical night. Now I can't wait for the DVD to be released and get the chance to see even more magic!
