    Star Wars Exhibit

This weekend we went to the Star Wars exhibit in the California Science Center, in Los Angeles:

Oh man, I couldn't wait for this exhibit. The stuff they exhibited really was a star wars geek's dream come true!

But first, while we were waiting in line, who were we standing behind? Why it's Academy Award Winner, Jodie Foster! I heard her saying "oh, we're big Star Wars fans".

Even better, we ran into a galaxy full of Micechatters! I ran into Grumpy4, and SusieP, at the entrance, and Dlan we saw near the gift shop, and I heard rumors that Pixiechick was there also.

The orbs when going up the ramp into the third floor, where the exhibits were:

Someone dressed up like General Grevious:

The actual landspeeder model used in the first movie (1977):

    Sebulba's Podracer:

    The model for Sebulba:

    A Tie Fighter Model:

    An imperial destroyer model:

One of a few Millennium Falcoln Models:

    Queen Amidala's starship:

    Another, smaller, Millennium Falcon Model:

    X-wing fighter:

    Chewbacca outfit:

    Stormtrooper uniform:

Training orb from A New Hope (Episode IV, 1977):

The Wookie City of Kashyyk (I hope I got that right):

    Tusken Raiders/ Sand People:

The Yoda Puppet from The Empire Strikes Back (1980):

    Spinning droid:

The (Abominable) Wampa from The Empire Strikes Back (1980):

The friggin' probe that tortured Princess Leia in Star Wars (1977)!!!

The Clay/Plasticine Model for General Grievous:

    Vader!

    Imperial Walkers:

    Probe Droids:

Medical Droid from the Empire Strikes Back:

    C-3PO without his golden skin:

    R2D2:

Just a fantastic exhibit, although the IMAX movie they put together was a little dated, talking about space and satellite launches that were about to happen in 1994. Amazing to see so much star wars memorabilia in one place, however - my geek meter went off the charts!

It was awesome! We have a ton of pictures to upload still, so I'll see if I have anything else to contribute here. The interactive aspects were very cool, too. There was one activity about MagLev propulsion and another area about robotics. We skipped the interior show because the line was always so long. I think it was an additional movie about robotics.

I'd totally go back and see it again. It's free, aside from parking, so you can't beat that. However, if you buy a ticket to the IMAX movies, then your ticket becomes a "fastpass" into the exhibit. They also had a ton of Star Wars stuff for sale, too. I bought a shirt for myself and a few things for my son. It was his birthday and he had a great day!

Thank you so much for sharing!
This is an exhibit I want to see terribly. Since that is not going to happen, pictures are the next best thing!!

Your pictures turned out GREAT Froggie! We skipped the interior show also, because of the line, but my youngest enjoyed building his robot. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time because our IMAX movie was at 2:30 and it started late and the science center closed at 5, but we plan on visiting again!

I didn't see you! But, if I was near the gift shop then I was probably focused on something

You sure were - you and your family were trying out the robot exhibits. We stayed in line for a little bit for the robot theater or whatever, but it was moving super slow and looked to be an hour or so. I think I'll also plan another visit once the crowds die down (yeah, right!).

I'm sure that it felt like it would never ever be not crowded, but give it another 5-6 weeks and it'll be more relaxed and a lot less crowded, I swear!! The first time we went in Portland, it was on a timed ticket, parking lot shuttles, you just shuffled through, could barely take pictures.

The last time we went there was almost no one there and the kids ran freely all over the place.

I love that you all ran into each other there. Nerds of a feather.....
