The 58th Annual Emmy Awards garnered the variety kudo, while Victoria’s Secret “Sexy” ad won commercial honors
Warren Beatty presented “The Godfather Part II” Oscar winning art director Dean Tavoularis with a lifetime achievement nod. Multi-hyphenate Terry Gilliam was also feted for outstanding contributions to imagery.
“This is generally quite wondrous because it’s literally the first award I’ve won in Hollywood,” Gilliam proclaimed.
“The amazing thing is, I’m still here,” quipped art director Gene Allen when announcing the late great inductees into the guild’s Hall of Fame.
“This is a terribly important category for me because I lived with some of the honorees. The people we are talking about are like those who wrote the declaration of independence, they fought the battles for us,” Allen said of inductees Hilyrad Brown (“Cleopatra,” “Back to God’s Country”), Henry Bumstead (“Flag’s of Our Fathers”, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “The Sting”), Carroll Clark
,” “Old Yeller
”), Stephen Goosson (“Lost Horizon,” “The Lady from Shanghai) and Harry Horner (“The Heiress,” “The Hustler”).
