Britney in Rehab for 'undisclosed' treatment - MSNBC.com

Britney Spears checks herself into rehab

Spears' manager confirms, form of treatment is undisclosed

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears entered rehab Tuesday after a bizarre weekend that included shaving her head and getting a new tattoo.
Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told People magazine’s Web site that Spears, 25, had voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility.

“We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time,” Rudolph was quoted as saying.

Calls to Spears’ representatives by The Associated Press weren’t returned Tuesday.

Since she announced her separation from Kevin Federline in November, Spears, the mother of two young sons, has been seen partying heavily, and her appearance has been increasingly sloppy.

On Friday night, Spears grabbed an electrical shaver at a San Fernando Valley salon and shaved her head completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed a newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sat for a new tattoo — a pair of red-and-pink lips on her wrist.

Entertainment TV shows and Web sites reported Friday that she had gone in and out of rehab that week.

Esther’s Haircutting Studio, where Spears shaved her head, set up a Web site to auction off her hair and other items for a minimum price of $1 million, J.T. Tognozzi, who owns the salon with his wife, told the AP on Tuesday.

“This is it, the opportunity of a lifetime,” according to BuyBritneysHair.com. The winning bidder gets Spears’ dark, knotty hair extensions, the clipper she used to cut them off, the Red Bull she drank at the salon and her cigarette lighter.

Tognozzi said he’d placed the items for sale on the eBay auction Web site, which later took them down, for reasons unknown to him.

At least she will admit she has a problem. Good for her. Hope she stays in rehab till she's well. Guess shaving her head means a new begining for her.

Is that the new thing now??? Rehab??? I mean, a few years ago it was Kaballa and now it's Rehab. No matter what your problem is ... go to rehab.

    Sorry, I don't buy it.

Until recently, I thought rehab was only for drug addicts. Now, however, thanks to Hollywood stars, singers, mayors and preachers, I am enlightened enough to know that they have rehab for drugs, alcohol, cheating on your wife, being gay, being racist and hating Jews. I gotta figure out how to get into the rehab business, because it's clearly a growth industry.

The best theory I've heard so far is that she shaved her head so it couldn't be drug tested in a custody battle. Hair samples are one of the best ways to do a long term drug use test.

Does she realize that she could lose the custody battle of her kids? K Fed is incompetent to be sure but he was smart enough to marry a millionaire and he's smart enough not to be all over the news doing stupid things.

*** Insert sound of career crashing to ground here ***

Ah, another child of Disney dropping into the depths of "loserdom." Man, seeing what she has done almost makes K-Fed look like Einstein! According to one "report" (take it with a major grain of salt) she is drinking, using cocaine (a report that gains more validity given her choice of friends/hubbies), and who knows what else.

I read an article yesterday about this in USA Today. Some experts are saying she might be on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

The cynic in me believes this may be one of the greatest publicity stunts ever. The former superstar pop-tartlet see's her career flagging, so she has a very public meltdown and goes into "rehab."

This isn't the end of her career, people. This is a multi-million dollar book deal, appearances on Oprah and Letterman, and a stunning comeback album.

I'd say right now the sky's the limit for the former Mrs. Federline.

I kinda thought the same thing... especially with the head shaving

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

If she takes adequate time and effort she can get better. Take a month or whatever works. I hope she shapes up because there could be a chance of Kfed taking the children(?)..I haven't heard about him in the news for awhile now.

Why is this in the "News" section, which is for Disney and Industry News Links???

Seems like the All Entertainment Section is a MUCH better place for this article. Remember that the News Section is directly linked to MiceAge and really should be kept clear of these type of stories....
