Finally got to see Wall-E last night. Best Pixar movie yet. And Presto, the short before the movie, is also the best and funniest yet from Pixar.

On Thursday I saw WALL*E for the second time.

I just got back from seeing Kung Fu Panda... skeeboosh! It was good, I really enjoyed it. I stayed through the end credits. The pictures during the end credits were good and funny. There was also a mini scene at the end of the credits but nothing major, it's no setup for a sequel or anything.

I Am Legend - I love Will Smith and I thought he did a great job in this movie. The storyline was depressing, like all end of the world type movies, but at least it had hope at the end. The zombies were freaking me out! Why did they have to have such extreem close-ups? And why did they have to scream so loud? After viewing this movie, I decided it is not a good one for my two boys. I even had nightmares last night. But with that said, I thought it was a good movie and I'm glad I saw it. (I'm just glad I didn't see it on the big screeen.)

^ I saw I Am Legend in theatres because the IMAX version opened with the 6-minute prologue opening of The Dark Knight. Enjoyed I Am Legend, but I still need to rent the Blu-ray of it to see the alternate ending. I've read it better, tho' less hopeful.

Hellboy: The Director's Cut Had a movie day/BBQ/potluck at my place yesterday which including screening this flick and the next. The Director's Cut really didn't add much to the original cut as I recall, which is fine. Some of my friends had never see Hellboy and really enjoyed the character's good humor.

Batman Begins God, this is such an awesome geekout film for me, a huge Batman fan! It ran a little slower than previous times I've seen it, but still the tone, the elements and the bat "back-up" scene are hugely right out of the comic book legacy. My friend who's a comic book geek like me and works for Warner Bros has already seen The Dark Knight, and in a short and sweet email said it was perfect. I'm trying not to get my expectations too high tho'. But I've already got my two tickets to see it Friday night and Saturday morning with two different sets of friends!

Wall-e I hadn't seen it yet! It was really well done, I was so impressed by the smoke, the fire extinguisher stuff, and the mist. Their animation just gets better and better.

The Day the Earth Stood Still, classic movie that I had never seen. Very enjoyable with a great overall message that is still relevant today, maybe even more so then it was when this film was made.

The original Day The Earth Stood Still is to this day considered one of the greatest Science Fiction Movies every made, along with Forbidden Planet. Now they are going to remake it, with Keanu Reeves staring. Gort was to be made totally different but stronger heads prevailed and Gort will appear much the same way he did, with a few updates and changes, as he did in the original. One of the most famous lines in films to this day is still: Gort, Katto Berada Nickto. I am so glad you got to see the original and didn't have to judge what horrors are coming in the new movie.

Netflix has been a great resource for finally being able to see many classic movies I have never seen, especially classic Sci Fi. I won't prejudge the remake, but using Reeves just sounds like a bad move.

    BEOWULF
Grrr... Robert Zemeckis of the 80s and early 90s, where are you? Why does he feel the need to support motion capture? Does he actually think watching a video game is good entertainment? This movie borders on realism some of the time, but there are frequent moments that just look so fake it pulls you out of the picture. It's distracting.

Ignoring the visuals and going off the story alone.... it's still a bit on the weak side. It was slightly entertaining and I'm fascinated about the time period but this movie didn't do it for me.

    2 1/2 stars out of 5.
