    New Ratatouille posters unveiled.

    story at: http://stefsketches.blogspot.com/200...tatouille.html

    Ratatouille.

Last year, I was ask to come down with some posters ideas for the next Pixar film, Ratatouille. Such a great and exciting project to work on.

The brief was to do a very 1920's French style illustration, I thought about A.M Cassandre straight away, beautiful simple designs.

The top one was the favorite, and I then did the 2 other ones. I did the last one in black and white first, but they wanted a color version to fit with the style of the movie better.

I had very little information about how Remy will look like at the time, which I guess was good in a way to help me keeping the design simple.

They're going to be used for consumer products purposes.

    Bon Apetit!

Very nice... I just hope people know it's called Ratatouille and not Gusteau's if the last version is used.

I love the second one. Very original for movie posters.

Those are really creative - I like how they don't look like typical movie posters!

Those are nice. I love that they used a specific art style.

It's nice, but the posters can't really tell you that this is a 3D animated feature film.

I know we should assume that all animated films are now 3D, but it will still be nice have a 3D-like picture on the poster. And for some reasons these posters look like they are made in the 1950s. Maybe that's exactly what Disney is trying to make it look like, but it just doesn't get my attention as much as the posters for Nemo, Cars, or Incredibles do which all share similar styles.

Oh honestly, would you read the first post. It's called 'art'. Pixar hired an outside illustrator who was able to work in a French 1920s style, bless them for the effort. Just Google 'Cassandre' and you'll see. And they're not the poster-posters obviously, just teasers or promotional material.

You just can't please some people.

That is so true. And I am glad you said this is not the poster-posters, that makes me feel so much better now.
